What a delightful couple and such a beautiful place to stay. Our room was very comfortable and the en suite was great. Breakfast was plentiful, typically French, tasty and unhurried. Both Jocelyne and her husband speak excellent English and are happy to help wherever possible. Beaune with its numerous restaurants is easily accessible and with separate guest entrance you can return without needing to disturb anyone. Would recommend La Saura without hesitation.

We stayed at La Saura for two nights and could not have been happier. Although close to the main road, you would simply not have known as it was incredibly quiet and peaceful. Off road parking is easy and convenient. Jocelyne gave us a warm and friendly welcome to her lovely home on a blisteringly hot evening. Our bedroom was very comfortable and the bathroom was beautiful. Lovely bed linen and everything spotlessly clean. Excellent breakfasts. There are good restaurants close by and Beaune is only about 15 minutes away. We hope to return.

La Saura is a gem of a place to stay (we were there for 5 nights), well situated for many attractions in the area. The accommodation was extremely comfortable, clean and charming. Our visit was a delight, made more so by the incomparably wonderful hospitality of Madame for whom absolutely nothing was too much trouble. We felt blessed to have found such perfect accommodation and to have met such lovely hosts. Our sadness in leaving was tempered by the fact that we shall definitely return to La Saura, indisputably the best of any B & Bs which we have used through Sawdays. Our sincere thanks.

An amazing place to stay, the bedroom and en suite were very comfortable and well considered. Jocelyne has great style. The pool and garden provide a fabulous area to relax in after a day sightseeing. Jocelyne is a great hostess nothing is too much trouble, she has much experience of the area and is well placed to book restaurants. Breakfasts were plentiful and served in her amazing dining room. This is the perfect tranquil place to spend a few days. Not to be missed. We will definitely return.

We stayed at La Saura on our way to the south of France and on our way beck to England. Although it adds a few miles to the journey it is definitely worth the effort. You are rewarded by a beautiful house and extremely comfortable rooms, each individually and stylishly decorated , as are the bathrooms. Jocelyne and Jean-Marie were perfect hosts, making us feel at home with their hospitality and great conversation, not to mention their excellent sense of humour. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we are contemplating returning to La Saura for a longer stay.

Carolyn, Basingstoke

A superbly relaxing place, excellently fitted out and more like a boutique hotel. Mme Lehallé is a perfect host (and très simpa) who knows the area and was able to recommend good places to lunch and to visit. Breakfast round a large communal table was great fun; and the food excellent. The park by the pool (which was had very comfortable loungers) was so quiet. Even with other guests, we felt as though we could mingle or just chill out by ourselves. We'll be returning.

What a great find! Beautifully presented and tastefully decorated, La Saura is a perfect spot to explore Burgundy and it's famous vineyards! The city of Beaune is not far away by car and is well worth a visit. Jocelyne is a real character and we very much enjoyed her company and sense of humour - nothing was too much trouble! She recommended some lovely places to visit and at the end of the day the pool beckoned whether for a swim or simply to sit with a drink! A lovely stay....

La Saura is a delightful stop-over in a peaceful, pretty village with convenient access from and to the autoroute, and a base for exploring Burgandy. Charming hosts, generous yummy breakfast with home-made preserves, cheese, cake and fresh bread. The rooms in the former stable of an old coaching inn are clean, comfortable and decorated tastefully. There is an attractive garden, conservatory and secure parking. The website paints a true picture. We ate and slept well and would return!

Absolutely perfect! - Beautiful accommodation, in a very pretty village and fabulous setting, with excellent hosts who couldn't have been more helpful.. Very tasteful rooms which give a luxury 'boutique' hotel feel - Jocelyn, you have created a wonderful place to stay - we thoroughly enjoyed our time with you, and will be back as soon as we can!. A real 'must' for anyone visiting Beaune and the Burgundy 'wine route'

We had a delightful stay at La Saura. Jocelyne-Marie and her husband were very welcoming, the property was beautiful furnished, and the breakfasts were lovely. We enjoyed some time lying by the pool, and visiting local vineyards and Beaune centre. We will definitely return.

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Jocelyne-Marie Lehallé

  • The most famous and most prestigious vineyards in the world that you can discover with a guide, by bike or by car with tasting of wines from the producers. Visits of medieval cellars, some of which will surprise you!
  • Hot air-balloon tour over the " route des grands vins": have a birds eye view over the old villages whose names are so famous through the world because of their wines, then ask for a hot air balloon tour. You' ll be thrilled by the sceneries.
  • Beaune: its historic buildings as the must "Hospices de Beaune", but also all its old houses from 12th to 19th century, its famous market with all sorts of products from "terroir" ( local products), its festivals and world famous wine sale in november.
  • Castles and abbeys: Burgundy has more castles than any other region of France. You can visit most of them, famous abbeys as well and a lot of beautiful villages.
  • Drive through the countryside in an old french car, bike along the Canal de Bourgogne, play golf in the beautiful " Château de Chailly" or in Levernois, eat in a good restaurant either starred or not... Enjoy Burgundy!
