A place to unbend. Paul (ex-builder, blues musician) and Diana (florist with a good eye for furniture) are fuss-free hosts with a passion for their restored home and lots of local know-how. They feed you on stuff from their veg patch or nearby – do try the local cider – and can point you to local fêtes and markets. The south-facing house, spacious and light, has oak floors and beams and is filled with flowers, traditional french country furniture, old lamps, rugs, pictures and photos – all given a delightful edge thanks to son Joe’s funky lighting. Nod off virtuously on a thick mattress with good linen – wake to birdsong.
