The
Experience

Joaquin has done wonders with Domaine de Moulin Mer, taking one of Brittany’s elegant mansions and giving it a facelift worthy of its grandeur. City souls will revel in the sea air coming off the Atlantic and there’s a wellness centre with hammam, Jacuzzi et al, so you’ll sleep soundly in your Louis XVI bed.You arrive through a gated entrance sheltered by palm trees and with graceful steps up to the front door. The gardens are yours to wander, abundant with olives and eucalyptus trees.Joaquin can provide (according to availability and his whim) inventive dinners using only the best local produce, just the thing for warming up after bracing coastal walks through the snoozy villages of this pin-drop quiet peninsula.

Location

The neighbourhood

Sleepy Finistère in the extreme west of Brittany is a land of legends and lighthouses known as the ‘beginning of the world’: it’s rugged, wild and battered by the Atlantic Ocean. It’s quiet here but it’s the scenery people come for, and on a sunny day with the sea gleaming like a sheet of mirrored glass and the mist lifting from the rocks, there’s no where else quite like it.

Local points of interest from Joaquin Lopez

  • Wellness area with massages, sauna, hammam/steam room, jacuzzi and spa.
  • Located on a peninsula by the sea, a few steps away from the port and the coastal path
  • The gardens have a large selection of Mediterranean plants & flowers.
  • Homemade dinners with local food. Generous seafood platters.
  • Idealy located to explore the area, close to the main tourist attractions.
  • Garden lovers.

Introducing

Joaquin Lopez

After living all over the world, Joaquin Lopez decided to put down roots in Brittany after falling in love with the Breton culture and landscapes – Domain de Moulin Mer was just the calm, homely setting he was looking for. Having stayed in all manner of hotels Joaquin knows exactly what guests want; he’s been providing traditional French hospitality (and excellent coffee) since May 2017.
