The Experience

Pick a lounge (one of many) for afternoon tea and a slice of gâteau Breton. The chef’s cakes come from Danielle’s grandmother’s recipe book, and like all else are delicious. Heaped with English antiques, this 1900s cliff-perched country-house is rather French, floral and fulsome.

Gardens amble down to the big sandy beach, and the restaurant faces the sea. If you like having peace and quiet, French food, warm service, and exploring the wild north coast, you’ll be happy here.

Set off for crashing waves at Pointe de Bihit. A mostly flat 30-minute walk from Trebeurden is rewarded with glorious views of the archipelago and the sea; on a clear day you see Roscoff. Return for lazy laps in the pool, and sunsets from front bedroom balconies.

Reviews

Incredible sea views for this superb and cosy hotel run by the very welcoming Jouanny family. The spacious rooms overlook the sea and surrounding cypresses, and everyone of them is different, with its own characterful blend of French and English touches. There are plenty of lounges and terraces to pick from, or you can simply unwind spending hours in the luxurious spa (swimming in the pool or chilling in the hot tub admiring the view of the sea), or treat yourself to a massage. The perfect place to relax, switch off, listen to the waves, connect with nature... a real treat.

Location

The neighbourhood

A private path winds down to the busy little yachting port of Trebeurden. On the seafront: restaurants, bars, a creperie and a marina. When the tide is out, the wide sloping beach is ideal for sandcastles, sailing and swimming. From Trestraou Beach (14km) you can tour ‘Les Sept-Îles’ archipelago, a haven for seabirds. Close by is the coastal Sentier de Douaniers, Ploumanac'h. From the old market town of Lannion, 12km, a woodland path follows the river Léguer all the way to the sand beaches of Beg Léguer.

Local points of interest from Jouanny Family

  • A path winds through the moorland. It leads you, in just a few steps, to the large beach at Tresmeur for an invigorating swim, a salty walk...
  • The customs officer path in Ploumanac'h, Perros-Guirec
  • The old city and Lannion's market on thursday
  • Granit chaos in Tregastel and its aquarium
  • Treguier cathedral and the old city
  • Paimpol harbour, its cliffs and the Sea Shanty Festival

Introducing

Jouanny Family

Danielle and her husband opened the hotel in 1978, their aim “to create a human hotel where people come first.” No surprise that guests return year after year. Daughters Isabelle and Marianne now help manage. This is a family affair, and the entire team is caring, charming and involved.
