The
Experience

At the top of a twisty mineral village, the big black farmhouse is dated 1490-1575. Sensitively renovated by this welcoming, dynamic family (she does yoga, he does upholstery – superbly), any gloom wafting from the great stones vanishes before Sylvie’s use of colour. The Blue room is… streaky blue, its floor like roiling magma, its superb shower done in multi-hued volcanic stone from Brazil, its big balcony a treat; the more traditional Gîte room has a kitchen/diner and a terrace onto fields and volcanoes – whence the black stone; breakfast in the family kitchen showcases local produce. Then visit spectacular Polignac – and more.

Reviews

Wonderful warm, enthusiastic welcome from Philippe and Sylvie who couldn't have been more helpful. The accommodation is comfortable and the breakfast good. The highlight is visiting the workshop and the well behaved dogs are delightful too. Excellent restaurant nearby and the ancient city of Le Puy is well worth a visit.
