Les Maisons de Concasty

Bed & Breakfast

Space, fresh air, beautiful food, organic wines, jacuzzi, hamman, massage, yoga... rusticity and syle, happiness and relaxation

6 rooms

Rooms sleep 2 – 4

Half a mile high lies the river-ploughed plateau: strong air, wild country, vast space. Built 300 years ago, the family mansion stands prouder than ever, and clever, delightful Martine has brought everything up to date: jacuzzi, hammam, massage, yoga (and more!) and organic food and veg from her brother’s farm to keep you blooming. The dining room, with its vast inglenook, and the covered patio overlooking the pool and the view, are the stage for lovingly prepared shows of foie gras and asparagus, scallops and confits (you can watch: Martine chats happily while cooking), the supporting cast an impressive choice of wines; great breakfasts, too. Bedrooms – in the main house, the barn or the renovated chestnut dryer – are stylishly rustic with space, good floral fabrics and an evocative name each – nothing standard here, except for that view. The magnificent new family room in ivory and soft blue is the height of sophistication. You will love the smiling, attentive staff, the warm family atmosphere, the freedom in the air.

We stayed here on my husband's birthday and Martene put candles on his dessert. We had a super room and a delicious dinner. Nothing was too much trouble and we were made feel so welcome. Lovely breakfast beautifully presented. We hope to go back and stay longer.

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Martine Causse

  • Come to Concasty to recharge your batteries: practise the gentle art of doing nothing in our peaceful haven; we can organise sessions in yoga, body care and massage or diet and general health throughout the season.
  • Come for the uniquely moving experience of “flying with the birds”. Christian Moullec takes you up in his ULM or a hot-air balloon while his trained birds fly alongside you. You may even take off from the Concasty hilltop. voleraveclesoiseaux.com
  • The Maison de la Châtaigne at Mourjou has a chestnut museum and an orchard of ancient chestnut trees. Unusual and full of interest.
  • This is walkers’ country par excellence and several marked hiking trails start here or pass the property. Just step out and become part of the stunning landscape of central Auvergne.
  • A tour of the valley of the river Lot, the glorious little heritage town of Conques and Don du Fel, which has become a European hub for contemporary pottery under the inspiration of Suzy Atkins, makes a wonderful day trip from Concasty.
  • Our peaceful retreat is easy to access from Aurillac airport (20 minutes) direct from Paris.
