Wind your way along a seemingly endless wooded drive to find the manoir standing proud on open hillside. Surrounded by 50 hectares of oak forest, this is about as remote as it gets. Sumptuously restored by vivacious Catherine, the interiors are straight out of a design book. Her inherited antiques, vintage finds and fresh new fabrics make every corner a treat for the eye. Sleep in the round tower with its door on to the swimming pool, or choose the square tower suite for a family. Think fresh white-clad beds, soft bouties and traditional toile de Jouy. Spacious bathrooms, down winding staircases, have big walk-in Italian showers, in natural stone, slate or tile. Enjoy pure air rambling on forest paths or exploring bridleways on horseback. Catherine has horses for accomplished riders and will even stable your own. Summer visitors can linger on the raised terrace by the clear blue pool. The lofty breakfast room with its large windows is an inviting place to relax, or play mini billiards and games should the weather turn against you. Its big round table seats fifteen so you’re highly likely to make friends with fellow guests.
