The
Experience

Modernity has been comfortably kept at bay here – a warm, easy-going atmosphere, shutters, tiles, retro wallpaper conserved and a lovely, child-safe pool in the gardens, with rambling old roses, a stream and a duck pond. You can chat about which village market, castle, or vineyard to visit over continental (with local honey, and eggs if you like) breakfast. Maybe head straight off from Le Moulin on foot or on horseback – there are stables at the end of the drive; or take the kids canoeing on the Lot, or zip-wiring at the tree-top adventure park.Christine is an excellent cook so do arrange dinner here (and ask about her cookery courses); she and Patrick know all the good places to eat nearby and La Table de Sens in Lougratte serves fresh, regional food that you can take away too.

Reviews

When Patrick and Christine welcomed me to their beautiful B&B, I thought I'd stepped back in time...original old wallpaper, cosy sitting room, a huge first floor veranda overlooking the grounds, and verdant gardens with secret paths leading off here and there. This is really somewhere you can take your time to enjoy your surroundings, getting away from the rush of town. With the option of dinner, homemade by Christine every evening, it really makes for a stress-free trip. My idea of a perfect holiday!

Harriet, Sawday's inspector

We loved this place, set in dreamy wooded pastures it was blissfully quiet and oozed charm and comfort. Patrick and Christine were delightful hosts, even although we were the only guests they cooked us a beautiful three course supper and advised us on where to shop and eat locally during our stay. We left with a pot of Christine's apricot jam and firm intentions to return.

Location

The neighbourhood

Historically and culturally rich, with the markets, festivals and restaurants of bastide towns like Villeréal and Monflanquin (both about 10-minutes’ drive); and castles, many wine-producing, some simply stunning, like Château de Biron (20 minutes). It’s 35 minutes to the waler-lily gardens that inspired Monet. Castelnaud golf course, and the Parc en Ciel Adventure Park are within 30. And, forget the car: you can walk, and ride from the house.

Local points of interest from Patrick & Christine Hendricx

  • Cookery courses in winter.
  • Monflanquin & Villeréal Medieval Villages at 10 min from Moulin de Labique. Monpazier & Issigeac at 20 minutes.
  • Horse riding starting at Moulin de Labique.
  • Vineyards of Bergerac , Cahors at 30 minutes and Duras at 40 minutes. On request we organize visits and wine tasting.
  • Bergerac Airport at 30 minutes from Moulin de Labique.
  • Golf course of Castelnaud at 15 minutes from Moulin de Labique.

Introducing

Patrick & Christine Hendricx

From Belgium originally, the Hendricx’ holidayed here before completely succumbing to the Moulin’s charms, buying it and moving to France in 2006. They love sharing with guests the timeless atmosphere they fell for. Christine runs cookery courses, makes great dinners; jams for breakfast - and for sale too. She and Patrick can help tailor your stay with advice on what to see and do locally (and lifts from Bergerac airport – half an hour’s drive).
