The Experience

There’s plenty of space in both properties: sitting rooms (the larger gite has two, so children can escape) have wood-burning stoves for chilly nights and are a good size. Bedrooms are cosy, some with low sloping ceilings, most with good views; bathrooms are modern and functional. Each space has its own private outdoor seating area and barbecue, but the pool, pergola, play area, bikes and games are shared so you can be as sociable as you want.

Both kitchens have plenty of fridge and larder space but Kaylee (whose house is also by the properties) offers to deliver continental breakfast baskets and also evening meals if you prefer – just set the table and sit down. Mostly you’ll be spilling out into the gardens, currently being given a makeover by Kaylee’s dad, a talented landscape gardener. Splash in the pool or walk up to the pergola for cool views.

When you leave Kaylee gives you a little basket of memories to take home.

Reviews

This is the perfect place to go and take all your family. Plenty of space for the children to wander, a large pool with sun-loungers, a park with play areas & quite spaces for an escape with a book or for a nap! Kaylee will child-mind so that you can have a leisurely wander round the farmer's market, returning for an afternoon to wind down whilst thinking about what to put on the bbq for supper.

Location

The neighbourhood

You're down a country lane and just off the main road. It's a five-minute drive to the nearest shop in the village of Tombeboeuf and 20 minutes to Marmande which has a market, an interesting church with famous gardens and a river beach for summer swimming. Kayak and paddle board on the nearby Garonne, visit wonderful bastide towns and play golf on a superb course.

Local points of interest from Kaylee Hopchet

  • If golfing is your thing, Golfe de Barthe is a great 9 hole course, just 5 minutes drive from Gigan. English owned and beautifully tended, this is a great spot for everyone. Even if you are not into golf, why not drop in for a coffee or a 'light' lunch
  • We love to have children visiting us and try to provide everything to make your stay as easy as possible - from cots, high chairs and buggies to a climbing frame and play house - your little ones will be fully occupied - not forgetting bikes for all
  • 15 mins from the river Lot with river beach and boat hire during the summer months and wild swimming all year round!
  • Immerse yourself in the 'real' French life. Join the locals at the daily markets and enjoy truly seasonal food, while away an hour or two... In July & August fantastic producers markets make for a really special evening out!
  • Set in the heart of the rolling Lot & Garonne, with over 300 Randonee routes make Gigan your centre for a great walking holiday. For a more leisurely day take a trip to one of the many bastide villages and enjoy the best in local cuisine.
  • We are just a few miles south of the fabulous Bergerac wine area - Enjoy a day out wine tasting and touring the vineyards...For a more 'family' day out chateaux such as Biron, Monbazillac, Duras and Bridoire are all just a short drive away
