Up the steep stone staircase are bedrooms with soft colours, organic linen and cheerful rugs; solar panels and sun pipes heat the water for splendid shower rooms, insulation is all natural wool and cork. Owners Muriel and Arnaud, artists and photographers in their spare time, mix their own black and white images with art and objects on the walls. Eat fabulous all organic breakfasts in the dining area or airy courtyard with glass roof. Nearby flows the Garonne, where converted riverside warehouses host cafés, shops and galleries.

Magical house with every comfort and super breakfast. Veronique provides so much information to help you get the most from your visit no matter how short

Veronique is a charming and welcoming host. The accommodation is lovely with a tranquil atmosphere. Our room was warm , comfortable and tastefully furnished with a big walk in shower. Breakfast was catered to my needs as I had requested ( spelt bread and soya milk) and of course organic. The centre of Bordeaux is easily accessed by the frequent trams or by a walk along the river. Many restaurants and cafes/bars nearby.

First of all, our transfer from the airport to the hotel with a company Veronique recommended was seamless. The house is very discreet from the street and opens out to a lovely light courtyard. We stayed in the Upper Room which has good views over the rooftops of Bordeaux. While the ceilings are low in some places, the room is large enough and bed very big. Again, the bathroom is small, but shower is powerful and has everything you need. Breakfasts were delicious. Veronique was a charming host, with good recommendations for restaurants. The Chartrons neighbourhood quiet with interesting shops.

What a special place. The house is calm and the host welcoming. The bedroom was well furnished and felt very French. We loved the history of the building and it's connection to the wine trade. It was a great location to walk out from with some lovely, reasonably priced, restaurants nearby. The breakfasts were simply beautiful, after a busy few months we both felt very indulged as we sat in the lovely covered courtyard eating delicious organic cheeses, yogurts and croissants with a full jug of coffee. Blissful. Thank you Veronique for making our stay so relaxing.

This was a delightful find. Just a short walk to the main attractions of this picturesque city and just a minute's stroll to the river and the excellent tram service. Veronique is the perfect hostess - friendly and very willing to pass on recommendations of where to eat etc. There are a number of good restaurants just around the corner. Veronique speaks excellent English. When we visited there were guests from Italy, Spain and Canada so breakfast around the communal table was interesting. Our room was light and comfortable. We would definitely recommend EcoLodge.
