Aillas, Gironde
Bed & Breakfast

Your careful caring host makes his own jams, cooks delicious organic dinners and protects birds and other wildlife in his welcoming garden

Rooms sleep 2 – 3

Charming Jean-Pierre finds the finest organic produce for his table. From croissants to charcuterie, ‘poulets fermier’ to orchard jams (apricot, blackcurrant, redcurrant, fig), it sounds delicious. This is a well-restored old farmhouse in the hamlet of Janoutic, two miles from the motorway, a great little stopover between Bordeaux and Toulouse. We like the two bright, carpeted bedrooms upstairs best, their rustic rafters hung with tobacco leaves in memory of old farming days; all have big walk-in showers. There’s more: leather sofas and a great log fire; a wild garden with an aviary and a pool for newts and birds.

We have been using your guide for France for years now and have had some wonderful places to stay with interesting hosts. We like to speak French so Chambre d'Hotes suit us well. This last holiday we flew into Bordeaux and stayed with Jean-Pierre in Janoutic, near Aillas before going to Sare. He was a charming host, a good cook and had a lovely old house which he had restored beautifully.

Wonderful place to stop. We had a great welcome from the charming owner who made us immediately feel at home. Lovely old French house. Very comfortable. Excellent dinner and breakfast. Fantastic log fire which was surrounded by leather settees. Highly recommended.
