The Experience

A spanking new renovation in the centre of lovely old Bordeaux done with taste and talent by long-standing B&B owners who have a sure feel for creating comfort for their guests. Up one floor from the quiet 18th-century street, open the magnificent, blood-red oak door and discover this strikingly handsome flat, full of light and considered use of bold colours. The cathedral is just across the way, your coffee or claret (of course) on the balcony will be immeasurably enhanced by the view of intricate gothic spires. The big living space – sitting, dining, cooking all in one on original wide floorboards – balances cleverly between fine plasterwork and trendy black cupboard doors, grey-tweed sofa and antique chandelier. The cosy bedroom, also lit by a crystal chandelier, has style and an excellent bed. The shiny new kitchen has all you could want for that special dinner à deux. Bordeaux groans with treasures: the renowned “water mirror”, loved by playful children and contemplative adults alike, an excellent art gallery, the old Chartrons quarter of winding narrow streets, and the World wine city just 20 minutes away by tram.

Reviews

This beautifully decorated apartment is centrally located, beside the Cathedral St Andrè, equipped with the necessities for an enjoyable stay. Trish, the owner is so warm & welcoming, offers any information needed. Loved Bordeaux and the apartment certainly made our stay memorable.

Rosemary

This is really comfortable, centrally located apartment. Trish was very helpful with recommendations for restaurants and sightseeing and we appreciated the wine and food she left for us. The view of the cathedral from the balcony is wonderful and Bordeaux is a lovely city to explore from here.

Fran, Taunton

This is a very comfortable and well-equipped apartment in a very convenient central spot, walking distance from everywhere you might want to visit (other than, perhaps, the Cité du Vin, which is an easy tram ride away). Don't expect to see the Miroir d'eau if you visit in the winter (it was not operating when we were there in late March) but Bordeaux is not short of other places of interest.

Anne, London

We had a wonderful stay at Bordeaux Apartments. The location is superb and the apartment is beautifully presented and very comfortable. Thank you to Trish for the warm welcome and for the flexibility on check in and check out. We very much hope to return.

Emma, London

This is a beautiful apartment right in the centre of a beautiful city. The terrace looks out over the Cathedral Saint André and apart from the sound of the tram bell (only in the day time!) and the church bells it is very quiet especially as the bedroom is at the back.. The apartment itself is very well equipped, stylish and comfortable and the owner is extremely helpful giving advice for good places to eat etc. We have walked everywhere and it has been a delightful few days. We recommend visits to the Marche des Capucins and the Musee des Arts Decoratifs.

Local points of interest from Trish Tyler

  • Cathedral St André & Pey Berland Tower - just across from the flat! Elenor of Aquitaine & Louis VII were married here in 1137. The view of the city from the top of Pey Berland tower is amazing. 50m high and a mere 229 steps. 4th Largest bell in France.
  • Miroir d'eau - not far from Place de la Bourse on the quayside. 2cm of water on a gigantic slab of granite - never too old or cold to kick off your shoes and have a paddle!
  • La Cité du vin - a unique centre dedicated to wine from all over the world, throughout the ages, culture & civilisations. Interactive - 'touchy/feely'. A lovely walk along the river from the apartment.
  • Musée d'Aquitaine - just round the corner and is one of the largest French history museums outside of Paris
  • St Pierre - Historic heart of Bordeaux, winding streets, beautiful ironwork railings, places to eat.
  • Black list café - just round the corner for the best coffee in town as well as super fresh salads, sandwiches & cakes!
