The cathedral is just across the way, your coffee or claret (of course) on the balcony will be immeasurably enhanced by the view of intricate gothic spires. The big living space – sitting, dining, cooking all in one on original wide floorboards – balances cleverly between fine plasterwork and trendy black cupboard doors, grey-tweed sofa and antique chandelier. The cosy bedroom, also lit by a crystal chandelier, has style and an excellent bed. The shiny new kitchen has all you could want for that special dinner à deux. Bordeaux groans with treasures: the renowned “water mirror”, loved by playful children and contemplative adults alike, an excellent art gallery, the old Chartrons quarter of winding narrow streets, and the World wine city just 20 minutes away by tram.
