The
Experience

On the banks of the Dordogne river, a beautifully restored 19th-century manor house with luxurious rooms and a cosy, beamed gîte –  an idyllic retreat for sybarites. Inside, charming Ouafaa has blended Moroccan style with Edwardian elegance. Sleep in sumptuous bedrooms, with lovely views and furnished with antiques; treat yourselves in ample bathrooms with dressing gowns and Hermes toiletries. You’ll eat well in the magnificent salon, or outside on balmier evenings on Franco-Moroccan meals made with fresh veg from the potager ; seldom is there duck; although foie gras with Moroccan spices does appear on the menu. You can also picnic in the grounds or use a small kitchen next to the salon. There’s a sleek pool and magnificent gardens with steep slopes to the north bank of the river so you can watch boats sail by, many paths which meander hither and thither among the rosemary, lavender and olive trees, and small terraces, each with their own seating area. Explore grand châteaux or stroll to pretty La Roque-Gageac for shops and restaurants.

Reviews

We spent 4 blissful days and nights at Manoir de la Malartrie in September. The Manoir was possibly the best place we have stayed anywhere. Ouafaa and Daniel were perfect hosts, the rooms were spacious, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. We were in the Commarque Suite but other guests were also very complimentary of their rooms, including a couple on their fourth stay. Ouafaa's breakasts were the best we had in France. The pool and grounds were immaculate and the location is perfect. Five minutes walk to beautiful La Roque Gageac and a very short drive to Sarlat, Beynac, Domme etc.
