The
Experience

A sense of calm luxury hangs over this fine old house in the Dordogne’s golden triangle where prehistoric men made their stunning cave paintings. Your young Anglo-Swedish hosts, well-travelled, enterprising and attentive to detail, serve perfectly soft-boiled eggs for breakfast. Calm-coloured sitting and dining rooms are huge, furnished with a relaxed mix of period and comfortable contemporary pieces; upstairs, the super bedding is brand new and the best room has a terrace. There’s a lovely garden to relax in and a huge pool but you’re near Sarlat la Canéda and only 15 minutes from Lascaux caves – do book your visit well ahead.

Reviews

A delightful spot amidst bucolic Dordogne scenery. The house can be hired as a whole or on a B&B basis for smaller groups. Our party of 8 adults enjoyed the whole Manor. 6 lovely en-suite bedrooms all with modern bathrooms makes for a relaxing and luxurious stay. The pool is heated and there are ample grounds for privacy if you wish. There are too many interesting places around however to spend your day in splendid seclusion; Sarlat, Souillac (for great markets), the Caves at Lascaux, Beynac & Domme (lovely hill top villages) and amazing gardens at Erinyac. Kerry & Thomas are delightful hosts.

  • The area is fantastic for truly memorable canoeing trips or cruises along the majestic Dordogne valley. There's several places along the valley where canoes can be rented and cruises can be joined. Roque-Gageac,a stunning village is very popular for this.
  • The area is littered with stunning cycling routes suitable for all abilities through stunning scenery. Bike maps are available in the villa. 3 of the best bike routes in the region intersect right outside our front door. We can help with bike rental.
  • Along the river Vezere from Montignac, 15 mins away with the world famous cave of Lascaux, to Les Eyzies in the Dordogne valley is just 25 mins away, centre of prehistory in France, you can find over 150 world heritage sites related to prehistoric man.
