You could sit under the trees with Alexandra and chat all day: she is the calmest and the loveliest of hosts. She and her soon-to-retire husband live in a handsome hunting lodge built by a Bordeaux wine producer, sharing the central courtyard with two large, luminous, ground-floor suites, with private entrances and an impeccable décor. If the ‘parc’ is a joy – all hidden corners, luxurious pool, shaded lawns meandering down to the river – breakfast is a marvel. There are seasonal fruits and homemade everything: croque monsieur, clafoutis, brioches and wild plum jam, all beautifully presented in the long library, or outside in summer.

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Alexandra Hudson

  • For wine lovers, we are located between Saint Emilion and Bergerac, many wine producing chateaux offer tours and wine tasting. Local restaurants offer the best gastronomy for very soft prices
  • Enjoy the very many local markets! Perigord is renowned for its food markets, but also flea markets. In the summertime evening markets offer also dining facilities with the locals en musique
