The Experience

A deliciously wild, remote house full of simplicity and soul – definitely not for ardent hedonists or those who crave cutting edge. Getting here is huge fun: across moorland, down a long and winding farm track, opening and shutting gates, chatting to sheep, wondering if you are lost in this lovely National Park, then spotting the white chimney stacks of Glyn Garth.

You enter into a stone-floored living room with rush matting, a log-burner and cosy furniture. The kitchen is refreshingly antiquated but sweet and serviceable; there’s another living room next door to it with a huge open fire and antique wooden settles. Bedrooms (one downstairs) are plain and unpretentious: books, simple lamps, Welsh blankets, deep window sills, views; bathrooms are fresh.

Families and friends, people who like nature, books and music will be happy. The local pub, owned by Bessy who serves you a pitcher of Bass, hasn’t changed since the 1920s.

Reviews

We had wonderful stay at Glyn Garth. Long walks in the Welsh mountains or on nearby beaches were followed by cups of tea and Welsh cakes sitting in the settle by the large roaring fire, or reading, writing, playing games and talking by candlelight before collapsing into our comfortable beds. Glyn Garth is the most amazing place to switch off from modern life. We will definitely be back.

Wonderfully remote and peaceful, an escape from modern day living.

Glyn Garth is the most magical and spectacular place. It was absolutely incredible staying in this wonderful house. It is a totally unique place, full of character, and in the most beautiful part of the world. We had a brilliant weekend and couldn't recommend it more highly!

Ben, Frome

This is truly a special place! Full of magic. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, stunning coastal path walks. The cottage is cosy, simple, inviting. Calm, happy, beautiful holiday here with our baby and 4 year old.

Lucy, London

A very special place. Rarely will you find such peace and silence. We have been visiting for years and each time Glyn Garth works its magic; Glyn Garth is a little piece of heaven.

Caroline, Wiltshire

Lovely, homely, quaint cottage in the most beautiful location. Just what you need to get away from it all for a week. Perfect beaches and lovely walks nearby. Horseriding down the road. Great for children, cottage has everything you need. Will definitely go back sometime.

Emma, London

Glyn Garth Cottage is your quintessential chocolate box cottage tucked away in the middle of nowhere. You feel like your stepping back in time, with all it's rustic, romantic features and beautiful landscape. The journey to get to the cottage off the road is such fun, opening and closing gates, across the fields. The children loved it. This place is really rather special and for us the perfect get away for our family holiday. There is also so much to do close by a week just wasn't enough! I would highly recommend a holiday to Glyn Garth.

Location

The neighbourhood

There are grand walks and cycles straight from the door. From the top of the track it's a 10-minute drive to Dinas Cross, either side of which are beaches, coves and coastal walks. Newport has a wide beach, a good butcher, cafés and pubs and a food market every Monday morning. There's a decent deli at Fishguard, the Fat Pig, and excellent fish and chips and ice cream from 'Hooked'.

Introducing

Emily

The cottage was bought by Angelica and Emily's great aunt in the 1950s and left to them by their mother Solveig. They came here as children and now bring their own children for family holidays in the great outdoors. They hope you love it as much as they do.
