The
Experience
A deliciously wild, remote family house full of simplicity and soul – definitely not for ardent hedonists or those who crave the cutting edge. Getting here is huge fun: across moorland, down a long and winding farm track, opening and shutting gates, chatting to sheep, wondering if you are lost in this lovely National Park, then spotting the white chimney stacks of Glyn Garth. You enter into a stone-floored living room with rush matting, a log-burner, mishmash of cosy furniture, shelves of books and a record player (there’s an eclectic vinyl collection upstairs too.) The kitchen is refreshingly antiquated and cluttered but sweet and serviceable, there’s another living room next door to it with a huge open fire and antique wooden settles. Bedrooms (one downstairs) are plain and unpretentious: books, simple lamps, Welsh blankets, deep window sills, views; bathrooms are fresh. Families and friends, people who like walking, birdwatching, beaches, picnics, fires, books and music (no TV or WiFi, and phone signals can be hit and miss) will be in heaven. The local pub, owned by Bessy who serves you a pitcher of Bass, hasn’t changed since the 1920s.

Glyn Garth Cottage is your quintessential chocolate box cottage tucked away in the middle of nowhere. You feel like your stepping back in time, with all it's rustic, romantic features and beautiful landscape. The journey to get to the cottage off the road is such fun, opening and closing gates, across the fields. The children loved it. This place is really rather special and for us the perfect get away for our family holiday. There is also so much to do close by a week just wasn't enough! I would highly recommend a holiday to Glyn Garth.

Location
The neighbourhood
Local points of interest from Emily Shovelton
- Walk amongst heather and gorse on numinous Preselli hills where Stonehenge's stones came from. Strumble Head to walk through carpets of wild flowers along coastal paths that would make geologists salivate. A bird watcher's paradise.
- Return home to a Blakean vision as you descend the track, the Paps near St. David's Head and rays of setting sun glistening over the Altantic past a heard of wild Welsh ponies and ravens croaking, on down to the cosy fire blazing in the grate.
- Restoration of the Year award winning Cardigan Castle with the giant cardigan. World famous Melin Tregwynt mill for Welsh blanket weaving. Award winning Dyffren Fernant magical garden nearby.
- Have a pick of unspoilt secret beaches and coves nearby or large Newport beach for wind surfing. Go further afield to the magical Traethllyffn for surfing or cricket. Our favourite beach. Blue Lagoon, Abereiddy, for wild swiming. Fish 'n chips at Porthgain
- Explore Nevern churchyard with ancient Celtic cross, nearby astonishing cromlech, Pentre Ifan. Visit St. David's Cathedral tucked out of sight of invaders. The most beautiful in Wales. Spend the day on the beach.
- Children love the dolls' house museum in Newport, run by 2 nonagenarian sisters. Also the recreated Iron Age fort. The Bayeux like tapestry of the last invasion of Britain is a must. In the Town Hall, Fishguard where there is also a weekly f.armers' market
