The
Experience

Narberth is lovely – quirky and colourful, lively and independent. It’s wrapped up in Pembrokeshire’s rolling hills with the coast and its path waiting ten miles south. As for this stylish restaurant with rooms, it sits on the high street, dates to 1820, and has a smart Georgian exterior with early Victorian bay windows. Inside, the style is hard to miss: Russian red in the bar with a picture of Gorbachev on the wall; then period green in the restaurant, where gilt-framed oils hang by the score. Potter about and find original tiles and ironwork, parquet floors and stained glass windows; the zinc-topped bar was made from a Methodist pulpit. There’s a conservatory bistro that opens onto a pretty terrace for strong coffee, homemade quiche and posh burgers. Bedrooms above are soundproofed and come with smart beds, white linen, travertine bathrooms and attractive prices; some interconnect, others in the eaves have the odd beam. Delicious food waits downstairs, perhaps calamari with chorizo and fennel, chicken with braised shallots, toffee apple and blackberry crumble. A great little base.

Reviews

A beautiful place, the bedroom was a delight, excellent bed ensuring a good nights sleep. The bathroom was excellent, we had a wet room with a very good shower. We ate in the restaurant on both nights and can certainly recommend it. Try the fish pie, delicious. Very friendly staff, although the decor is outstanding it is not intimidating, you are made to feel very comfortable and welcome.

The perfect place to stay, close to Tenby but without the tourists and noise. Beautifully decorated bedroom. Bar and restaurant are outstanding, we ate in the restaurant and would certainly recommend it. The staff couldn't be more charming and helpful. Situated in the centre of Pembrokeshire we found it very convenient. Air conditioning and secondary glazing in our bedroom was an added bonus and didn't detract from the style and design, which was excellent.
