The Experience

On beautiful Anglesey, close to sandy beaches and medieval castles, these traditional stone and slate houses are very comfortable. Owl Barn and The Farmhouse are neighbours in an old house built in 1870 and can be rented separately or together. Both are light and spacious, with plump sofas to sink into, smart bathrooms and beds topped with colourful Welsh blankets. An interconnecting door can link the two properties, and Owl Barn has a big kitchen overlooking the pretty gardens, for group feasts. You’ll find basics waiting plus Welsh cakes.

Little Woodpecker Cottage is a snug bolthole for two with a magical walled garden where you can breakfast al fresco; it has a kitchenette for simple cooking, too – good enough for a short stay. Outside, stone paths lead through lovely, lawned gardens shaded by mature trees: guests are welcome to wander.

Beyond your peaceful rural retreat, there are miles of scenic coastal paths and cycle trails to explore.

Reviews

From the day we arrived to the day we left everything was absolutely brilliant. Family of nine including grandparents, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and yes Bruno the hound. The accommodation in the two properties we occupied was so very comfortable with everything we needed provided for. Outside acres of room for the grandchildren to amuse themselves including rope swing and tree house. The location is ideal for exploring Anglesey and the mainland attractions, and the beaches superb. Don't take my word for it arrange a visit you'll have a great time, we did and we'll back.

Spent a week with my Mum in the tranquil and peaceful Owl Barn. Beautifully renovated property and so spacious. The grounds are also very special. So many great places nearby including Llanddwyn beach and nature reserve and Plas Newydd National Trust property.

My husband, 2 sons, mother and I spent a week in the Farmhouse and every one of us had a wonderful time. The accommodation was perfect and the surroundings were spectacular! It was a magical holiday!

Monika, Surbiton

Three generations and Misty (the dog) had the most fantastic stay in the farmhouse. We had read many excellent reviews before going, but it exceeded all of our expectations, from location to facilities, it was absolutely wonderful. Thank you Delyth and the team for making the whole experience so memorable.

My family and I enjoyed a peaceful break staying in The Farmhouse . We found the house to be spotlessly clean , warm and well equipped with absolutely everything we needed. The surrounding gardens were tidy and well kept , with new season bulbs emerging through the soil . The location is very peaceful and so in touch with nature . I could have sat outside for hours watching the numerous small birds . We are looking forward to returning to the Farmhouse again sometime soon.

We couldn't recommend the House in the Yard enough. It's really is the perfect place to stay when exploring Angelsey. The Granary with it's beautiful interiors and cosy spaces was just what our family of 4 needed after a day on the beach. We had sunshine too and wonderful times out in the garden. There is a little woodland for the dogs to charge about too. We look forward to returning very soon.

We had a fantastic 5 night stay in the Owl Barn with our 2 dogs. The cottage was incredibly comfortable with everything we needed. Anglesey itself had plenty to offer, we enjoyed exploring the beaches, forests and villages. Delyth recommended the Oystercatcher restaurant which was fabulous. Coming back to our cosy cottage after a full day out was perfect. Delyth & Noel are perfect hosts, they provided us with plenty of information on things to do - everywhere is so dog friendly! Can’t wait to come back!

We have just returned from spending 11 wonderful nights in the Farmhouse, part of the House in the Yard. My wife and I were looking forward to some rest, great walks and lovely scenery. Anglesey certainly met those requirements, but the cherry on top was provided by the Farmhouse. It is very well equipped, comfortable and superbly cosy. It was a treat to return there after a day out. Our dog had a super time on the beaches and had great fun in the wood that belongs to the HITY. The decoration and furnishings were superb. Delyth was very easy to deal with re. booking and any requests.

Roderick, Banbury

The arrangement and layout of the cottages is lovely. I think it would be especially good for groups of family and friends as it provides enough privacy but would give a lovely sense of freedom to have all the gardens as a group. Delyth wants guests to be able to enjoy the tranquillity and seclusion of this charming place. You can easily reach the lovely beaches and nature spots on Anglesey.

We had a wonderful time at this lovely cottage it really is perfect for a family with a dog. We stayed in the Granary and the outside space was perfect. The location is close to a lovely beach and there are lots of lovely walks. It would have been so easy to have stated at the cottage for our whole time there. There is everything you could need in the cottage and the standards inside are very high quality. Highly recommend

Jane, Bury

We recently stayed at the House in the Yard in the Granary which was absolutely perfect for us. The surrounding area is so beautiful with lovely large gardens and a small wood to explore. The cottage itself has everything you would ever need to make your stay enjoyable and feel like a home from home, even down to garden games and cushions for outdoors. I would love to go back again and would highly recommend this lovely place as the perfect hideaway and stress reliever.

Elaine, Warrington

We had a lovely week staying at The House in the Yard and were delighted with our accommodation. We could hear sheep and cows when we woke up in the morning and nothing else and the beds were so comfortable. The boot room was so handy and our dog loved the grounds. Our children enjoyed the tree house, table tennis and a rope swing. We will definitely recommend you to friends.

Location

The neighbourhood

You're down a narrow lane with passing places and only two other properties, so once you've arrived you'll feel very private and secluded. Anglesey has amazing beaches and the nearest is Newborough, an 8-minute drive and perfect for a day out with a picnic. Rhosneigr has good surfing and sailing. It's a small island so you're only ever about a 20-minute drive from the main towns for restaurants.

Introducing

Noel & Delyth Sumner

Delyth lives in London with husband Noel but grew up nearby and regularly visits her own family in the area. She fell in love with Tyn y Buarth because of its seclusion and its peaceful atmosphere. She likes to find interesting pieces of art and craft to decorate the cottages.
