The Experience

Swathed by hills and braes, the farm sits between Loch Lomond and the rolling contours of the Campsie Fells. Deborah and Steve are next door and restored the Old Dairy and Curlew Cottage to high eco standards, with slate and wood floors and local red sandstone. Solar panels and underfloor heating keep things cosy all year while rooms zing with natural light; all is crisp and clean. From tots to grandparents, you are welcome here; book the houses together or separately (both have downstairs bedrooms). Indoors you have total privacy but a low patio wall allows for convivial barbecues; in Curlew, there’s seating and crockery for 12. A generous host, Deborah provides home-baked bread, marmalade and their own eggs; she can also arrange for meat from local butchers and at-home beauty treatments! On chilly days throw a log on the burner and curl up with a book or a film. Or head out; a small hill (The Dumpling) makes an ideal nursery slope for little climbers, with a dazzling view. The loch has a Sealife Centre, canoe and cycle hire and cafés, and Stirling and Glasgow are not too far – for heritage and shopping.

Modern & homely with everything we could ask for. While the trampoline undercover & a cuddle with some newborn lambs was everything the kids could ask for! Our stay at Curlew Cottage was a perfect Easter break. From the instructions for arrival, the welcome food including homemade bread, & a wood burning stove prepared, all added to the warm welcome. The hosts were attentive & available for requests & suggestions, making sure the kids met their new lambs. The local shop is small but well stocked & walkable along the country road. Plenty of walks and sights on Loch Lomond. Highly recommend.

The proximity to Loch Lomond could be enough to make a stay at East Cambusmoon a must, but the accommodation itself is fantastic. Deborah and Steve have done a brilliant job creating warm, welcoming and gorgeously stylish homes on the farm using the most advanced ecological technology. We stayed in Curlew and loved the feeling of light and space and looking out onto fields and hills from the picture windows. The house is perfectly configured and well equipped for family groups or combinations of friends and we hope to come back with more of ours.

We loved everything about Curlew Cottage: the setting, the design, the beautiful views from every window. It has been so thoughtfully designed that it is a real joy to stay there. It is so cosy and warm, whilst at the same time feels very spacious. The local area is lovely, with a lovely cafe 5 minutes away, a play park both on site and 5 minutes walk away, lovely walks to the banks of Loch Lomond and some of the most spectacular views of Loch Lomond and Ben Lomond only a stones throw away. The thoughtful welcoming touches from the hosts were a lovely touch.

We stayed at Curlew Cottage for 4 nights and had originally planned to have some friends join us for an overnight but due to restrictions, this couldn't happen meaning we had the cottage to ourselves...2 adults, 2 teenagers and our dog, so plenty of space. The cottage was perfect. In a great location, peaceful, amazing views and stunning inside. Everything was clean, comfortable and the break was really relaxing which was just what we needed. The cottage also had the added bonus of electric chargers for our cars so made getting around really easy. Thanks for a fab trip...we'll be back soon!

Amazing property! Stunning home from home and wow what a peaceful but conveniently located spot right next to Loch Lomond. Lots to do in the area ,great walks whether you experienced or not , water sports nearby and some great dining spots. Our family of 6 had a lovely few days! Thank you to Deborah for being so welcoming - lovely welcome pack especially the home made bread!

What a wonderful place to spend a week! We stayed in Curlew Cottage, which was beautifully designed and equipped. The cottage is both cosy and spacious, and all the details have been well considered -- we especially loved the large picture windows that looked over the green fields and horizon. we were delighted to be find fresh-baked bread and homemade marmalade awaiting our arrival, and Deborah was very welcoming and hopeful with recommendations of things to do locally. I highly recommend spending some time at this beautiful farm!

Lori, London

The cottage was spotless, very modern and very comfortable. The hosts are very friendly and live on site in case you have any problems - but they stay out of the way if you don’t need them! We were given a lovely Welcome Pack which included eggs which had just been laid that morning - delicious! I’m planning to come back. The surrounding area is beautiful and there’s a handy little restaurant nearby where the strawberry tarts are to die for!

Eileen, Edinburgh

Deborah and Steve have created two superb eco friendly cottages that are light, airy and cosy on their small holding. Curlew is the ideal cottage to have extended family or a girls' get-together. Deborah is extremely helpful and friendly and very happy to provide the extra games for your children, routes to go walking, great places to eat, and more, making it a great place to base your holiday.

Had a great stay. Lovely cottage 5mins drive from Loch Lommond. Kids loved the swings and garden to play in. Highly recommend.

Andrew, Doha

We have stayed on several occasions in both Culew and The Old Dairy cottages at East Cambusmoon. Debs and Steve are excellent hosts. We love the modern eco accommodation in traditional farm buildings, a blend that works so well. Your every need is catered for with super well equipped kitchen and bathroom, comfy beds and even guides to cycles and running trails just outside your door. The accommodation feels very luxurious. We also love the outstanding views and enormous playground of lochs and mountains surrounding the farm. It’s a place to relax and regenerate and a real gem.

Bex, Norwich

We spent a very relaxing week in this superb cottage with our dog. Deborah and Steve have put a lot of thought into the design and fitting of The Old Dairy. The location is perfect for exploring the area and there are some wonderful, scenic walks and drives from the house. The afternoons close in quite early in Scotland this time of year but we were very comfortable just enjoying relaxing in the lounge with the cosy fire and magnificent views from the window. We will definitely return someday.

Carol, Tonbridge

We have visited East Cambusmoon twice and wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying here. The cottage is immaculate and finished to such a high standard and feels comfortable from the moment you walk in. It makes a perfect base for either sightseeing locally (there is so much to see without even driving anywhere) or travelling further afield to Edinburgh or Glasgow. If the weather is poor, you have everything you need and more to keep you occupied indoors and there is nothing better than sitting with the wood burner going, drinking coffee and watching the rain pour down.

Alison, Huddersfield

We had a wonderful stay in the Old Dairy. The cottage was beautifully equipped and our hosts friendly and thoughtful. The view from the top of the hill (a mere 10 minute walk) is breathtaking. The weather was extremely good, but judging by the large woodburning stove and level of insulation, this place would also be a delight in winter.

Hannah

We stayed in The Old Dairy, it was idyllic; so modern and yet so peaceful. Perfect location for exploring, we enjoyed cycle rides from the cottage as well as walks up the local hills. The accommodation was incredibly tastefully finished and was a real sanctuary. We also enjoyed day trips to Glasgow and Edinburgh during our week's holiday - really accessible as well as being wonderfully rural.
