Byreburnfoot House

Canonbie, Dumfries & Galloway
Bed & Breakfast

Salmon fishing paradise on the Esk's banks, in a forest home. Warm hosts, fabulous home-produced food - a truly relaxing Scottish escape

3 rooms

Rooms sleep 2

Tucked away up a gravelled drive overlooking the banks of the salmon-rich Esk, this pretty Victorian forester’s house combines traditional charm with modern comforts. Warm hosts Bill and Lorraine are keenly green-fingered: their 1.5 acres of orchards, flower-fringed lawns and organic kitchen garden are productive – and their cooking is delicious! This is prime salmon and trout fishing country and Bill can organise trips, permits and local availability privately. Return to airy rooms, wooden floors and antiques. The beds are big, the linen is trimmed and views are sublime. Stay a few days and become part of it all.

What a lovely hospitable experience! Loads of local info and knowledge about wildlife and places to hike, fish, etc. Honest recommendations about places to eat. Bill and Loraine were great fun to talk to and we had a few laughs. Breakfast by Bill was top-notch with home baked bread, their own eggs and local produce wherever possible. We were tantalised by the fantastic aromas coming from the kitchen throughout the day. I'd forgotten binocs but they produced a pair and maps and books ... A lovely room with comfy bed and view, complimented by a nice bathroom. We will come again!
