The
Experience

Discover Ayrshire… pine forests, hills and wild beauty. Alasdair and Andrea (sculptor/garden photographer) are generous hosts who love having you to stay – your visit starts with tea, coffee and cake. There’s an arty vibe with their work on display; the dining room brims with garden books and games; large bedrooms have cosy lamps and more books. Big breakfasts by a log fire are a treat, perhaps with haggis, garden fruit, homemade bread; hearty dinners too. Rich in wildlife and orchids the garden has a rambling charm, the salmon-filled river Stinchar runs past and dogs are welcome – resident Daisy, Clover and Tansy are friendly.

Reviews

Absolutely wonderful, relaxing & beautiful place. Lovely welcome, definitely dog friendly not just dog tolerant. Amazing breakfasts. We will return.

A lovely place to stay with delightful hosts. Their attention to detail in all areas was splendid. The breakfast was superb and the Irish stew excellent. If you are looking for amazing countryside and a rugged coastline then this is the ideal spot, with walks right on your doorstep and the beach a short car journey away.

Delightful couple & amazing dogs!! Nothing was too much trouble. We arrived a bit early, but were welcomed in with Tea & home made scones. Breakfast was first class treat, lovely log fire to sit at & a stunning Monkey Puzzle tree of nearly 200 years old to look out at in the garden. Lovely quiet area & not too far to go for some excellent food. MiniShant Inn was especially good. Along with Souter's Inn, both just a short drive away. All in all house was lovely & clean, Alistair & Andrea very pleasant ,friendly & informative & Daisy the dog very spoiled!! Would recommend Alton Albany.

A wonderful return visit to Alton Albany Farm for our family of four plus dog. Alasdair and Andrea are very warm and welcoming hosts, offering delicious meals and the most delightful, cosy accommodation full of fresh flowers and artwork. Actually, the dog got the most fuss, by far! They had even kept her bowl that we'd left behind three years ago! The sound of the river next to the house lulled us to sleep and the children were utterly charmed by the hooting owls in the trees outside. The local area is just stunning, with lots to do. One night is not long enough to soak it all up! Next time..

Alisdair and Andrea were very welcoming hosts with a great sense of humour. The accommodation and breakfasts were first class, the situation is both beautiful and peaceful and I would have no hesitation in recommending Alton Albany to anyone for either a short or long stay.

We stayed at Alton Albany just prior to the recent Open Golf Championship & thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There is a tranquility about the place that pervades, making it the ideal 'getaway' - it's secluded, peaceful & welcoming. Alasdair was the perfect host - attentive & considerate - nothing was too much trouble. Our room was immaculate, with nice touches & finishes - fresh coffee, fresh milk, delicious shortbread & chocolates! The bed was super comfortable & brakfast each day was 'scrummy' . We'd definitely stay there again & can heartily recommend it to others - Enjoy!!
