South Stainley is a small village, with pub, church and this fine vicarage, six miles from Ripon, ten from Harrogate. Come for the races, the Dales… Sleep peacefully in a charming room up under the eaves. Julia has decorated her guest room unfussily, tucked in a sofa and added an antique wardrobe and blanket chest. The bathroom’s really smart and big, with separate shower and bath. Linger over your Aga breakfast – full English, scrambled eggs, smoked salmon – in the lofty new garden room with leafy views, pastel colours, original art. You’re welcome to use the swimming pool and tennis court, and you can walk to the pub for dinner.

We spent some lovely days in this area and were welcomed very warmly in Julia's house. The location is very peaceful and overlooks the countryside. Our room was very comfortable and cosy. Breakfast was delicious, we even had figs from her own figtree, that produced figs for the first year ! Nearby, in walking distance is The Inn that has since short new owners. We had there a very good dinner and the service was very friendly.

Comfortable, quiet room with lovely bathroom in a nice Old Vicarage next to the church. A beautiful part of Yorkshire. Welcoming hosts and a good breakfast. Would recommend to anyone staying in the Harrogate area.

Outstanding B&B in a lovely house ideally placed for local attractions, or to break your journey to the North or to the South. Very spacious bedroom and bathroom. Comfortable, friendly, and relaxed, it soothed us after difficult Friday traffic. And with the significant advantage of a fine gastro-pub 5 mins walk down a country lane. A really good find.
