The
Experience

Through glorious Dales to the pretty village green, where you have a wing of this attractive, old stone house to yourselves. Step into an airy space with original oak beams, comfy sofa, Persian rug and books. Antique and contemporary pieces blend, the bed is clad in pure cotton, the simple shower room has fluffy towels, and there’s a kitchen area for rustling up snacks. Your hosts are delightful: Sam has his cabinet making business in the outbuildings; Georgina (professional cook) brings over locally sourced breakfasts and hearty suppers: eggs from the hens, homemade marmalade, smoked salmon… lasagne, crumbles. A friendly place.

Reviews

My wife and I very much enjoyed our two night stay in the comfortable (and very nicely furnished) self-contained suite which was absolutely ideal for us to come and go as we pleased. Excellent tea and coffee making facilities were provided and breakfasts were delivered each morning to our room. This was a real pleasure. An additional pleasure was the warm welcome we received from Georgina, just as warm as the delicious scones we were treated to with tea, freshly baked by daughter Ellie who was also there to greet us on our arrival - a really nice touch.

Local points of interest from Georgina Anderson

  • From your room you can step outside straight onto a public footpath. This particular path takes you across The Cover River, where you will have to walk across the stepping stones. Beautiful meandering river.
  • If History is of interest to you, Jervaulx Abbey is a five minute drive. One of the oldest Abbey's around. It is set in beautiful park land that you can stroll around in, before going to enjoy the best Yorkshire ice cream - Brymoor, its a must!
  • Leyburn - 10 minutes away by car, is the start of the Dales. Stunning walks, amazing picnic sites, pubs ontop of the world. The Yorkshire dales are just a stones throw away.
  • If good pub food is what you are after, a short walk to the end of the village and you will find the award winning pub, The Blue Lion, great for lunches and dinners.
  • This picturesque village is one of its kind. A gentle stroll around the green, there are several benches on the green to sit and view your surroundings. It is peaceful, tranquil, a perfect place to come and relax for a few days.
