It’s the handsomest house in the village. Annie – warm, intelligent, fun – invites you in to elegant interiors, artfully cluttered. Tall shuttered windows and a big open fire, candles in sconces, heaps of flowers, charming fabrics: a genuinely relaxing family home. Bedrooms are a treat, one with green views on two sides and a bathroom with a French country feel; fittings are vintage but spotless. Breakfast is good too: eggs from the hens, local chipolatas and bacon. Stride the Dales, bring bikes (secure lock-up, drying room and outdoor hose), discover Georgian Richmond, a hop away; return to a delicious simple supper with garden veg.

If you are lucky enough to book at the Manor House you are in for a real treat. From the moment we knocked on the door to the moment we said good bye two days later we were looked after excellently. Tea and cake in the lounge when we arrived was an unexpected bonus. The house is lovely, full of charm. The room was very comfortable and we had the exclusive use of a large lounge. Annie is a great cook and we would recommend the evening meal. Take your own wine. A five star experience.

This is one of the best B&B's we have stayed at in the UK. Lovely room, location, food and hosts. Although in a small village it is close to many attractions including the Dales and Moors. Also minutes from the Bowes museum. There is no pub in the village however a couple of minutes drive will give you excellent choices. We stayed 5 nights and felt very at home. We would not hesitate to recommend this B&B to anyone who wants quality accomodation at a reasonable price. Peter and Pam

Completely charming! As a cottage owner myself, I noted numerous details that illustrate the thought, care and skill that Annie and David have put into their elegant home. Fresh flowers were to be seen everywhere, perfect bedding, spotlessly clean, delicious food……I could go on and on. Our cottage is 5 star rated and if Manor House were QIT accredited, I’m sure it would be given 5 stars! I have never enjoyed a B & B experience as much as I did this one.

Such a beautiful place! The pictures do not do a justice for the house or garden! The garden/yard of this house of one of the prettiest ones I have ever seen. Looking out your window you see cows and sheep and the lovely garden Annie and Dave have. The bathroom and bedroom are lovely, classic British. You have a lovely, short drive through the village, which is so cute and beautiful! Annie prepares the best meals with fresh food. You get such a great value for your money. The food is perfect, the sitting room is perfect, and the bedroom is cosy and quiet! Perfect vacation, thank you!
