The hall is a beauty, even on a dull day, and the village is a dream. Half an hour from Harrogate find space, beauty, history (it’s 400 years old), three walled gardens and comfort in great measure: beloved antiques, a rocking horse in the hall, feather pillows, thick white towels, and sumptuous breakfasts followed by delightful Rachel’s Cordon Bleu dinner – delicious rack of lamb a favourite. The sunny guest sitting room is elegant and charming, the cream and white twin and the snug little single have long views to the river. The area is rich with abbeys and great houses, and then there are the glorious Dales to be explored.

We can thoroughly recommend Laverton Hall, which is a very old house (with sloping floors upstairs), beautifully decorated and furnished. Breakfasts were excellent. Mr. & Mrs. Wilson made us feel very much at home and we enjoyed the walled garden in the sunshine. The hospitality extended to help with the ironing of a very special dress and assistance with good eating pubs nearby.

Highly recommend this B and B - comfortable and luxurious bedroom and bathroom and one of the best breakfasts. Scrambled eggs by Rachel were absolutely delicious. And a beautifully stocked garden to wander in. One night only but will happily return.

Definitely rustic and you have to like - or at least tolerate - dogs. There is a lovely garden and the accent is on tranquillity. Off the beaten track but, once you are accustomed to that track, not far at all from Fountains Abbey and Ripon. On the other hand, nearest pub is a a fair old walk to the Queens Head in Kirby Malzeard if you want more than a half of the real ale (does Indian food after 6.00 pm and recommended by Tourist office in Ripon). Very good breakfasts and a comfortable bed. Affable hostess who is well informed about the area. A lovely place to stay but definitely bucolic.
