Pam and art restorer Richard are chatty and friendly – they love having guests, and are happy to advise on trips. Their converted barn has an artistic vibe throughout. The big, attractive open-plan living space has a galleried landing above; airy bedrooms have soaring beams, striking light fittings, colourful throws; bathrooms are smart. Pam likes to cook so you’re in for a treat: tuck in to local produce, eggs from the hens, homemade granola, breads and jams; delicious, perhaps Lebanese or Moroccan, dishes for dinner too. The 50 acres are yours to wander: farmland, woods, a beck – and there’s a four-mile Heritage Trail to Bentham.

We had a wonderful 9 day stay in Lane House with Pam and Richard. It was the most terrific holiday and we have taken home many memories of a unique stay, they could not be kinder and more considerate. Pam coped beautifully with our non-meat eating diet. She is a fabulous cook and nothing was too much trouble for them. They are a well rehearsed team. We would love to return one day.

Lovely stay. Stunning views from a beautiful barn conversion. The breakfast was delicious and Pam and Richard chatted to us as they made it in their open plan kitchen. Very welcoming.

Martha, London

Pam and Richard are delightful hosts who made us feel very welcome in their beautiful home. After a long drive from Plymouth, we enjoyed tea and cakes in their garden allowing us to admire the outstanding views. The breakfast was delicious, cooked to perfection by both Pam and Richard. This accommodation is a real delight, combining modern and artistic elements. Definitely 5 stars!

Angela, Plymouth

Pam and Richard are so welcoming. We highly recommend the evening meal and of course the breakfast. They also sorted out gluten free things for our evening meal and breakfast which was very kind. Lovely location with quite amazing views in all directions. Our room was delightful and so well appointed. We look forward to returning and spending more time in the area.

Pam and Richard have created a fantastic contemporary but cosy home that could have come straight out of Grand Designs. Every detail, from the marble floor in the huge kitchen/living room to waterfall taps in the bathroom, is perfect. They are delightful hosts, we left feeling we were friends rather than paying guests, and Pam's breakfasts are delicious, fresh and imaginative. She enjoys cooking and it shows. This is a really special place. We plan to be back!

Maureen, Oxford

Terrific one night stay at the Lanes. The barn conversion is superb, breakfast was beautifully cooked and presented and the owners, Pam and Richard, were a total delight. A 5 star experience, highly recommended.

Richard and Pam are wonderful hosts and everything was perfect. We so enjoyed our stay and if we ever go to Lancashire/Yorkshire/Cumbria again we will definitely stay with them.

After 10 minutes we felt Pam and Richard were old friends. Impressive and stylish barn conversion, impeccable bedroom/ bathroom... we'd go back like a shot...

Really lovely place in a fantastic location. Pam and Richard are perfect hosts and we can heartily recommend Lane House for a great family stay.

A beautiful place that we thoroughly enjoyed visiting and where we felt very welcomed by Paul and Richard. The room was excellent and the view from the open plan dining get area is superb. The breakfast was wonderfully cooked and a great selection of fruit and home made jam. We very much enjoyed our stay and talking to Richard and Pam. Highly recommended!

This is a fabulous place to stay and Pam and Richard are great hosts. The rooms are lovely and cosy and really beautifully appointed. Pam's artistic flair shines through. And what a great cook! Nothing was too much trouble and the food was superb. Richard is a music buff and will play whatever you want. If he really likes you he might let you see his workshop too! This is a real gem and I can't recommend it highly enough - enjoy!

We had a great couple of nights here. Pam and her husband were incredibly accommodating with both ourselves and our 3 young daughters. Our girls loved collecting fresh eggs from the chickens and we had a lovely walk across the fields that the property backs onto. We opted for an evening meal too which was delicious as was the breakfast, which was cooked to order and a great choice. Highly recommended
