The
Experience

Little back lanes, an old gate, a secret walled garden and a large bay-windowed Georgian house. You’re bang in the heart of Whitby yet the feel is very peaceful with airy rooms, flowers, botanical fabrics, elegant antiques, original art – and a Blüthner piano to play. Your pretty bedroom is reached up a graceful staircase; find high ceilings, a plump bed and views through sash windows. Your breakfast is continental and you can have it in the drawing room, the garden on fine days, or in bed if you’re feeling lazy. Stroll to the beach for wild walks, explore the Yorkshire Moors or the shops in town – returning will be a pleasure.

Loved our time at No 20! Can't believe there could be a better place to stay in Whitby. First class in every detail.

Thank you Pip for a second stay in your wonderful house. Loved everything about it - stylish restful interiors and a delightful 'room with a view' so thoughtfully provided with every comfort and such a genial hostess. Until next time, many thanks ...Melanie & Nigel

We received a very warm welcome from Pip and her two dogs Bramble and Millie. The fridge in the room was stocked full of lovely things including wine and chocolate; we wanted for nothing. Location is really convenient with only a 5 minute walk to the harbour. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend St Hilda's or stay here again.

we visited whitby for the first time and stayed at St Hildas terrace. we were very impressed with the high standard and personalised service we received. It was a wonderful experienced and we loved all the little extra touches Pip provides to make your stay special. Her dogs are fabulous and friendly but you hardly know they are there. I would highly recommend a stay here and hope to revisit again.

What a wonderful, warming place, with such character and so amazingly hosted. From the moment we walked in we felt welcomed and comfortable. We wanted for nothing and everything was just perfect for a nice get away, be it a long or short stay. This is a true gem of a B&B and could not recommend more.

A wonderful stay in this lovely Georgian house, a stone's throw away from the centre of Whitby. From the moment we made our initial enquiry to the minute we left Pip made us feel welcome and as if we were old friends. The room was beautifully furnished and decorated and was very comfortable. Having torn ourselves away from the two gorgeous dogs we popped out for dinner and returned to find the breakfast table in our room laid out wonderfully for our continental breakfast the next morning. We also found two little hot water bottles in the bed - what a lovely and thoughtful touch! A true gem!

What an absolutely beautiful place 20 St Hilda's Terrace is and to refer to it simply as a B&B really does this accommodation, and the residence as a whole, an injustice. We were made very welcome by Pip and her lovely dogs and shown to the most stunning suite that was to be our home for three nights. And we were certainly made to feel very much at home. The suite was beautifully decorated and furnished with the fridge full of lovely, inviting goodies. All in all, we had a wonderful stay. If you want to make your visit to Whitby an extra special one, you could do no better than to stay here.

This place was fantastic! Pip (and her dogs) was so friendly. The room was amazing; light and airy with beautiful furniture and stunning views. I was nervous about having breakfast in the room but it didn't matter as it was so big and the table was laid in the window when we went out at night. Best bit was the fresh flowers from the garden everywhere, including three bunches in our bedroom, some in the bathroom and throughout the house. We will definitely be staying again. Thank you!

What a beautiful B&B - a family home filled with personal items, little vases of garden flowers and all the little extra touches which make this place so special. Including the ever so friendly dogs. The double room is lovely and the breakfast was just what we like (not cooked!) with plenty of choice. And lots of extra goodies in the fridge too. A real find. Thank you for a wonderful stay, despite the weather!

What a little gem. This pretty Georgian house was perfect. The bedroom was beautifully decorated with pretty soft furnishings and lots of thoughtful touches. Breakfast was taken in the bedroom from the extremely well stocked mini fridge. We were treated to cereals, bread, fruit, yoghurts, chocolates, crisps and even wine if we had wished! A very generous spread. The bathroom was immediately next to the bedroom so it didn't matter that it was not ensuite. I would recommend this as a beautiful place to stay right in the heart of Whitby.
