The
Experience

Stealing its name from the backdrop of ancient undisturbed woodland, the cottage and its surrounds make a natural family home – for both frazzled humans and local badgers. Winding your way up the long peaceful track to this converted stable, you catch glorious glimpses of the Teme and Kyre valleys; the setting is spectacular. On arrival, you’re greeted by the delightful Ellie, whose grounds and beautifully tended English country garden you share. Generous windows flood rooms with light that bounces off polished elm floorboards; a wood-burner and Aga keep things cosy, the kitchen is handcrafted, the views are long and bucolic. Upstairs, bedrooms are brass-bedded and floral, tucked under the eaves in that cottagey way. You get a handy loo and basin up here, and a sparkling bathroom with a roll top tub downstairs. Lucky children have seven acres to romp in, and a secret treehouse with hammocks and a barbecue for midnight feasts. Resting on the borders of three counties, this is prime walking country. Bustling Ledbury and Ludlow, England’s Slow Food capital, are just a drive away.

Reviews

This is a truly special place to stay. The cottage and grounds are quite magical, it was so much more than we expected. It's a place to retreat from the world and recharge, we came away feeling refreshed. There are lots of ways to be together here, but also corners to curl up in alone. The tree house by candlelight was very special. We will definitely be back. Thank you Ellie.

There aren't the words to describe how wonderful Long Cover Cottage made us feel. It is a truly beautiful place to stay & exceeds all expectations. The cottage is furnished & equipped to a very high standard & feels more like home rather than a holiday rent. The grounds are well cared for & include a fairy house & tree swings which the children adored. There is a forest area, a pond & beautiful flowers & shrubs everywhere. The owner is kind & lovely, nothing is too much trouble, she even baked a cake for our arrival. We spent hours both relaxing inside and walking through the grounds. Lovely!

Beautiful property in a stunning location. Made to feel so welcome, it was cosy and comfortable with all the little touches that made it feel special but homely. Fresh flowers throughout the cottage and Ellie made a delicious cake to welcome us, just what we needed after a long drive. It was so peaceful, with plenty of lovely walks, just what we needed to recharge our batteries. I can't praise it and Ellie highly enough we have stayed in many beautiful hotels and locations around the world , and long Cover is right up there with them, but with the added personal touch.

Aine, Bedfordshire

My family spent two weeks at Long Cover, and we really enjoyed our stay. Ellie is a charming host, and the house is so comfortable. The beds are great, the kitchen fun to use, and there is plentiful seating. The cottage has been restored very thoughtfully. The garden and grounds were especially delightful, and we really appreciated the ability to feel so at home. The area is fantastic. We'd made a long site-seeing list before we arrived, but with Long Cover Cottage being as appealing as it is, we found ourselves unwilling to travel too far from "home" ... Luckily, there is a lot to do nearby!

Anne, Greenville

Long Cover Cottage is an amazing place to stay. We enjoyed a weeks stay and would definitely recommend it. Our children loved the gardens as did we and our 3 dogs. Tranquil and serene and by far the best British holiday we have had as a family so far. Ellie is a fantastic host and will do anything to help make your stay a memorable one. We loved it that much we are booked up to go back again this year.
