In a tranquil village next to the river is a house surrounded by water meadows and wilderness garden. Roses ramble, marsh orchids bloom and butterflies shimmer. This 12-acre labour of love is the creation of ever-charming Diana and her son Michael. Their home, the time-worn 18th-century miller’s house, is packed with country clutter – porcelain, foxes’ brushes, ancestral photographs above the fire – while bedrooms are quaint, flowery and old-fashioned with firm comfy beds. Breakfasts are served at small tables in the pretty dining room. Diana has lived here for many many years, and has been doing B&B for at least 30 of them!
