The
Experience

Swing off the village road to find the prettiest 1810 house, and vivacious Heather who has filled her home with fresh garden flowers, good art and a real eye for design and colour. You’ll be welcomed in the large sitting room with lots of plumped up sofas and a roaring fire on chilly days; in summer you’ll want tea in the fecund garden which swoops down to the river – a huge draw for birds, maybe even a kingfisher. Bedrooms have pretty wallpapers, fresh ginghams and chintzes, interesting books, impeccable bathrooms. Wake to freshly-squeezed orange juice, toothsome scrambled eggs, all the other gubbins and homemade marmalade. Lovely!

Location

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Heather Coulter

  • Set in the beautiful valley of the River Kennet, which flows past the front of an immaculate lawn, is this exquisite Georgian house. Go fishing on the river for a grand day out, or visit Avebury Manor, recently renovated by the National Trust.
  • Heather serves breakfast in the elegant conservatory, which leads onto the charming garden with the lawn sloping down to the river. A perfect place to sit and enjoy the wildlife and magnificent view.
  • Upstairs the bedrooms are attractively furnished with televisions, tea/coffee making facilities and views of the garden and river.
  • Mildenhall is a few miles outside Marlborough which has a thriving weekly market, hosts an annual jazz festival and the Mop fair, when the streets are closed to traffic and there is a real carnival atmosphere.
  • Heather knows a lot about local restaurants, and if you need a recommendation, you only have to ask. There is a good local golf club set in beautiful countryside, and the nearby towns of Hungerford and Pewsey are also worth a visit, as well as Avebur
  • Marlborough is also the location of the very popular school, Marlborough College, and Heather is always pleased to welcome parents of children who attend the college when they want to attend parents events, drama, sporting or musical activities.
