The
Experience

A stunningly converted barn wrapped in exuberant greenery and packed with interesting fabrics, paintings and handmade chandeliers. Bedrooms are soft calm spaces; bathrooms have underfloor heating and walk-in showers. Countryside rolls into the distance and you’re five minutes from the M4, yet quiet. Pioneering Elizabeth revamped the house 18 years ago, and single-handedly designed and created the garden. The result is a space hugged by ancient drystone walls, its distinct areas linked together by lush springy lawn and gravel walkways. The raised terrace, overlooking a circular Italianate garden is a delicious place to soak it all up. Every tree you see, except for the line of pleached limes that stands solemn and magnificent behind the house, has been planted by her. The most unusual plant, a Crambe cordifolia, fizzes behind clematis and rambling roses; all summer the barn walls are veiled by Boston ivy and tubs burst with pretty flowers for the house. Guests are treated to the fruits (and vegetables) of all this labour – runner beans, salad leaves, tomatoes, blackcurrants and redcurrants. Delightful.

Reviews

We were warmly welcomed by Elizabeth to her beautiful home. Our suite was of a very high quality and comfort. Breakfast was so hearty and delicious it set us up for the whole day. An excellent find.

Pauline

Gorgeous house and an even more gorgeous garden. Elizabeth is a lovely host. She meets you with tea and something sweet, prepares wonderful breakfasts (we had home-made scones and clotted cream one morning - delicious!), and offers home away from home kind of accommodations. Highly recommended!

Cadwell Hill Barn lived up to all our expectations, as soon as you arrive you know you are in for a delightful stay. Elizabeth's warmth and hospitality is second to none, she welcomed us to her beautiful home and garden with tea and cake, practically the run of the house and garden, fantastic breakfasts and convivial chat and laughter, she is a joy. Thank you Elizabeth, we will be back.

In all perspectives: a lovely place, House and garden, a warmly welcome with tea and a great breakfast. But the reason why you should visit this B&B is because you'll get the opportunity to meet Elizabeth! She's a charming lady with a broad interest and a delightful sense of humor. As soon as we'll get the opportunity, we'll be back! And "west-littleton' is a beautiful village.

Elizabeth was a superb hostess, pre-empting all our needs and made sure our stay was memorable, we were well fed, warm, cosy and comfortable, had cakes on our arrival, herbal tea selection and supplies of fresh coffee all weekend. Cadwell Hill Barn is sumptuous and rustic, set in rolling hills near Bath, a lovely place to stay and a real tonic. The room has ensuite facilities with comfortable king size bed, superb shower and quality decor, a separate seating area with TV and sofa, we felt it was excellent value and look forward to our next visit.

This place is wonderful, Elizabeth is a warm and welcoming hostess and cooks up a mean breakfast! the room was cosy and comfortable, carpets are soft and fluffy, and the bathroom was amazing; shiny and with a great shower- very important! Elizabeth really knows how to make you feel welcome and at home. Stunning property and gardens, and a great place to stay. really close to Bath, too.
