The
Experience

Glorious Goodwood is a 15-minute drive, the beach is a 15-minute stroll, and the Lamb Inn is opposite – a brilliant base for those who like to get out and about. French windows invite you in to this shining extension to the 19th-century Dray House, set back from the main road and on a gravelled drive. Enter an open-plan space, warm, stylish, airy and light, with a sweep of oak floor that’s heated underfoot and lovely high beams above. There’s a suave white sofa and Eames lounge chairs, black and white photos of old Monaco races, large canvases, a 50″ flat-screen, and an iPod dock for surround sound. To the right, behind white muslin, is the bedroom area, with a king-size bed and doors that open to a garden terrace which you are welcome to use. The shower room has a five-star feel and the kitchen is small but perfectly formed, useful for knocking up an omelette in – or brewing a delicious Nespresso. Birdwatchers will be happy, Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve is close, and this is one of the least developed stretches of the Sussex coast.

Reviews

We just got home from our fantastic holidays in UK. Staying at DrayHouse was perfect. We enjoyed very much this stylish and very aesthetical furnished cottage. There was nothing we could have missed. It was the ideal place to explore the south of England. Very good situated, close to beach, nice pub over the road.

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Mike & Lois Hendry

  • Unashamedly targeted at the luxury end of the self-catering market, The Dray House enjoys the patronage of the discerning guest. With its light and spacious bright contemporary feel which is warm and cosy all year round.
  • During Roman times Pagham Harbour was a primary seaport for Southern England which continued until devastated by a huge storm in 1341. Today, a Local Nature Reserve, Pagham Harbour has become an internationally important refuge for migrant birds.
  • The Cathedral City of Chichester is close by, with its wide pedestrianised streets, excellent variety of shops and restaurants, acclaimed Festival Theatre and Pallant House Gallery.
  • Conveniently located for Goodwood Festival of Speed in July & the Festival of Revival in September.
  • Secure ample gated parking, with CCTV coverage. Garaging available on request.
