This 16th-century house has been in Carol’s family for generations. She and Mark have rejuvenated the well-loved, attractive old home; find ancient beams, wonky floors and deeply comfortable bedrooms with flowers, antiques and gleaming bathrooms. Breakfast is in the large, sunny garden room: fruit, homemade marmalade, a full English with local and home-grown produce. Head out for walks from the door, great gardens, Bewl Water sports. Return to a garden bordered by rhododendrons and admire the Weald of Kent views from the Bamboozle, as the roosting rooks chatter in the trees; walk along country footpaths to a good pub for dinner.

Carol could not have made our overnight stay more comfortable. Everything we could want in our lovely room, comfortable bed and a large ensuite bathroom with a great shower. She served a delicious breakfast in the sunny garden room which was also sitting room for guests. This room had beautiful views across their garden and the Sussex Downs. The food was locally sourced, homemade marmalade and as much as you could eat. All in all both Carol and Mark were very welcoming and we would certainly return if in the area again.
