Sleeps 10

You are a two-minute walk from Camber Sands in this rather smart black-wood clad, terracotta-brick new build: stark modern lines will delight minimalists and stylish electric gates ensure privacy. There are two main living areas. The upstairs is double height with a wall of glass leading to a balcony overlooking the large garden, a black leather corner sofa and two chairs, snugly covered with sheepskins, are grouped around a stylish wood-burning stove, and owner Julie’s ceramic sculptures steal the limelight. Downstairs is decorated in simple 1950s style with light flooding in from patio doors. Find here the TV, DVDs, toys and games for children and gadget-addicted adults. Two kitchens will spoil the cook, both functional, spotless and filled with paraphernalia. Choose to eat in either (one seats six, the other ten) or in summery style on the balcony. The master bedroom has an excellent mattress and views onto trees, the front double looks over the neighbouring houses. There’s a laid-back bunk room for children with toys and books – and whichever smart bathroom you choose you’ll enjoy rinsing the sand out. Seaside heaven!

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Julie Nelson

  • Picture yourself in a stylish, open-plan space enjoying an evening with friends. Whilst the sun sets through a 4.5 m wall of south-facing windows overlook the sand dunes, the children play in a self-contained living area on the ground floor.
  • Return from the beach to the half acre garden and while the youngsters bounce on the huge trampoline, fire up the 2 barbecues and enjoy the feast alfresco. Lounge in the wooden recliners or play a full scale game of rounders. There's enough room for all.
  • Beach Haven sits behind the dunes of Camber Sands and is a 3 minute walk to the stunning wide beach where you can swim in the gentle waters. The fine white sand and distinctive grasses are often the backdrop of photo shoots.
  • We are 3 miles from the fabulous shops and character of Rye, or a 15 minute bike ride along a cycle path. Explore the historic setting of Mapp and Lucia and the home of writer Henry James.
  • The eerie charm of Dungeness is a 10 minute drive to the east. A stop-off at the garden of the late film-maker Derek Jarman is a must. Fans of quirky and cutting edge architecture will find much to inspire.
  • You'll love the wide choice of fresh food, souced from the sea or from local farm shops. Foodies will enjoy Rye Bay Scallops, Romney Marsh lamb, and seasonal fruits and vegetables which will provide the delicious ingredients for your daily feast.
