The Experience

This pretty Victorian terraced cottage sits behind the main square overlooking the church tower in a village with quaint shops on the edge of the magnificent Peaks. Walk straight in to a small, very cosy sitting room in French grey, with a comfy sofa and wood-burner, local photographs on the walls, and flagstones topped by a bright rug. The neat, handmade kitchen has more flagstones, wooden cupboards, and all you need for cooking up a storm; you eat in the sitting room at a table overlooking the window. Upstairs: a simple, beautiful bedroom with painted floorboards and a big antique French bed, and views over the narrow lane. There’s no wardrobe but plenty of Shaker-style hooks for clothes, extra storage space and a romantic bathroom with a claw-foot bath and white fluffy towels. For warm days there’s a sun-filled garden with a table and chairs, a lawned area, trailing clematis and a low fence between you and the neighbours. Explore the National Park for stunning walking, cycling and birding, visit Chatsworth House, antique markets, and glorious public gardens.

Reviews

We wanted a relaxing weekend away, not too far from home and No. 5 certainly met the brief. Gloriously comfy and cosy in a great village-centre location. I've a sneaking feeling we'll be back!

We had a lovely short break this June at Stay at no 5. Longnor is a fantastic location for exploring the area, and we enjoyed coming back to the beautiful cottage after our walks in the Derbyshire Dales. The cottage was so comfortable for us with all the fittings very well maintained. It was great to be able to sit outside for breakfast in the lovely garden. Thank you! With best wishes Mike and Brid, Northwood

Such a beautifully designed and furnished interior with a lovely little back garden. Everything is so comfortable and provides a welcome return after a day of walking. Looking forward to staying again in this cottage - and the village is such a great location to explore from.

Beautiful, peaceful and well-equipped cottage. Longnor is quite isolated and all the better for it, with stunning scenery on the doorstep. The Merchant's House Kitchen (practically next door) is great but you'll struggle to tear yourself away from the wood burning stove and classy decor of the cottage

Absolutely gorgeous cottage, beautifully decorated and well equipped with everything we needed for a weekend away. Super comfortable bed with crisp white sheets and fluffy towels. Bliss! Thank you. (Sorry, we forgot to write anything in the visitors book)

Anna, Brighton

A charming, hidden cottage in an elegant terraced row, perfect for a romantic escape. It's light filled, beautifully finished and has a charming air. We loved eating breakfast in the cute garden and relaxing by the woodburner at night after a day of exploring.

Tessa, Bristol

Wonderful, peaceful little village and even better because of this beautiful cottage. Such a hideaway - but not too difficult to get to. Felt as though we were having a retreat and the perfect weekend away. David and Shirley had everything perfectly set up for us and wish we could have been here for weeks!

David, Glasgow

A wonderfully located cosy cottage, beautifully decorated, lovely welcoming touches, stunning countryside!
