Yarlington House

Bed & Breakfast

Something to astound at every turn where the traditional and downright quirky collide to stunning effect - eccentric and unique

3 rooms

Rooms sleep 2

A mellow Georgian manor surrounded by impressive parkland with hosts who are friendly and flexible. Something to astound at every turn: fine copies of 18th-century wallpapers, elegant antiques, tremendous art. Traditional bedrooms with glorious garden views and proper 50s bathrooms have a faded charm. Enjoy a full English breakfast, grape juice from the glasshouse vines and log fires. Wander over smooth lawns (mind the Haha) to find a walled sunken garden with wisteria and classical statues, a square of pleached limes around fecund rose beds and lily pond. Stroll along immaculate paths through the walled kitchen garden with neat box hedging and new steel arbour. Beyond is a short woodland walk with shrubs and a 200-year-old Cedar of Lebanon, a Victorian Hollow with many varieties of ferns and a laburnum walk leading down to a bronze statue, a John Downie apple pergola and a dovecote for children to romp in. Carolyn is the plantsman (soft hues of pinks, blues, greys), Charles the designer (look for clues of a Napoleonic theme!). It’s a lovely space and you can stay all day so there’s plenty of time to explore.
