The
Experience

Croquet on the lawn, carriage rides on the Somerset levels… there’s more than a hint of the manor-born. Pass through sturdy red gates, leaving the village behind. In the family for 400 years, this immaculate house is carefully tended and overflows with portraits and delicious antiques… propped against the Clementi piano (tuned to order) is a Victorian bowl used to bath baby on route home from India. The grand old drawing room comes with cosy sofas and shiny brasses, a wood-burner and a respectfully small TV. The library dining room seats 22+, magic in winter or flung open in summer, while the red snug sitting room is a lovely spot to get lost in a good book (there are over 5,000). The kitchen is wonderfully equipped, a hamper of goodies awaits, and local groceries can be delivered. Bathrooms are big and spotless, bedrooms warm and luxurious, some with views and tapestry touches. The little ‘Pump Room’ has a high ‘Princess and the Pea’ poster; a special spot on the landing has a couple of sofabeds. If your brood is bigger you can spill over into Park Cottage (sleeps 6 and can be let separately or together with the house). Stride out over your 22 acres past the haha, the roses and the walled vegetable garden – given over to the inspirational Landshare scheme. Glastonbury and Wells are close.

Reviews

We had a fantastic family gathering at Cossington Park, it had bags of character, space and was spotlessly clean. All the equipment was high quality and the dinning room where we had our celebration was stunning!
