Set back from the lane is a newly converted and refurbished barn. Step in to find fine old proportions, heated oak floors and heaps of character. Louise’s stunning living quarters spread under the beams and bedrooms lie privately below on the ground floor. One opens to the courtyard, and all are airy and peaceful with modern fabrics and cream walls. There’s a sunny guest sitting room leading onto the garden, and delightful Louise, a great cook, serves breakfast at a long table by the wood-burner. You can walk through fields to the river or hills, stroll to the pub for supper – and alternative therapies can be arranged locally.
