The Experience

In a blissful valley lost to the world, a small country house that sparkles on the side of a peaceful hill. This is one of those places where guests return again and again. Outside, fields tumble down to a stream that marks the border with Wales. Daffodils erupt in spring, the lawns are scattered with deckchairs in summer, paths lead into the hills for fine walking.

It’s a comfortable place with an open fire in the bar; colourful art and super food in the restaurant; the daily papers and the odd chaise longue in the sitting room. Bedrooms are in the main building, except two suites with spa baths and a family room in the old stables, both with their own outdoor space: all are roomy and with super garden views. Food is taken seriously, much is seasonal and local and you can opt for dinner bed and breakfast if you’d rather not venture out at night.

Walk all day on Offa’s Dyke and return to sit by the fire with a glass of wine.

Reviews

Pen-y-Dyffryn is full of charm and set in a beautiful location. The surrounding area is filled with interesting places to visit within easy reach. The hotel feels warm and comfortable as soon as you arrive and the new suites have been very carefully thought out to maximise the peaceful relaxation of this hidden valley. The restaurant is considered one of the best in the area.

Steph, Sawday's Inspector

A gorgeous hotel with fantastic food and staff that go above and beyond. I have just returned from a 2 night stay here and feel so refreshed. The hotel has a great little bar, lots of cosy lounges with log fires and a delicious menu which changes each night. We were lucky enough to stay in the Champagne Room which had an enormous spa bath and incredible views of the surrounding valley. The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful, and our room was spotless. Delicious toiletries and big fluffy robes made the stay extra special. Thoroughly recommend.

Chloe, Shrewsbury

Nothing is too much trouble at this gorgeous picture perfect small hotel. The rooms are impeccable. The views ALL exceptional and the food what you would expect of a 5 star restaurant.

Kate

Introducing

Charlotte & Tommy Hunter

It's a real family affair. Charlotte and Tommy's parents Audrey and Miles moved to Pen-y-Dyffryn when their children were growing up as a lifestyle choice. Over the years the family has developed the house, outbuildings and site into their current business. When Audrey and Miles retired, Charlotte and her brother Tommy took over running the Hotel. They have a good, friendly team to help.
