The
Experience

Off-piste drivers will delight in the approach – down a bumpy farm track, over an open field, across a ford and through grassy woodland. You land in a dreamy, bucolic setting with an arboretum and views over two deep water lakes (yes you may swim, yes you may use a little boat) with island, waterfalls, a small summerhouse that revolves, and a stream teeming with wildlife. A veranda and patio with table and chairs face south so you won’t miss a thing; writers, artists and those clutching a large drink may take root here on less chilly days. Your wooden cabin is comfortable and very cosy: find one fresh and airy living/dining room with a fully formed kitchen area and plenty of good seating; glass doors open out to the terrace. The main bedroom has a giant bed with a pretty rose-strewn bedspread and a cream rug; the bunk room is fine for adults or children but it’s all so romantic you may want to farm them out! Owner Victoria, who lives nearby, leaves you jam from her damsons and raspberries, local apple juice, something baked, and fresh flowers. A gorgeous little watery retreat.

Reviews

An utterly blissful place.

Patricia, Beckermet

No words can do this place justice! It is just absolutely amazing! Surrounded by beautiful lakes, stunning views and a picturesque private little forest all to ourself! I couldn't fault this place. I would 100% recommend this place! Private and secluded, with a wealth of wildlife surrounding us! There are lots of things to do close by and lovely places to eat! Very pet friendly as well. We will definitely be coming back soon!

We were impressed with the web site but simple thrilled and wowed by the reality of lakeside retreat. The cabin was very modern and with the New England style we love. So clean and very cosy. The bed was also very comfortable . The terrace area and barbecue was perfect and the cabin surrounded by the lake , trees and beautifully managed lawn areas. We loved walks by the lakes and the summerhouse was really special. Retreat is the key word it is so peaceful and quiet surrounded by beautiful nature . The owners were really welcoming and helpful in all enquiries etc.

Fabulous break in what was our own private hideaway. So peaceful and relaxing in such a beautiful setting. lovely welcome touches, yummy muffins, dog treats/blankets. Perfectly situated to explore the surrounding area. Will definitely be back

A perfect place to take our puppy on her first trip away from home. Stunning countryside and scenery with four lakes to stroll around and a rowing boat to use. One of the lakes has an antique summerhouse with deckchairs and camping seats. We saw deer, a woodpecker and one of the family's dogs came to pay us a visit. Our pup enjoyed the free dog biscuits and spending all of her time 'off lead' in safety. We loved the beautifully furnished interior of the lodge with all mod cons and the very comfy sun loungers outside. We were so sad to leave but are taking lots of happy memories with us!

A truly wonderful stay, highly recommended. The host and hostess were charming and nothing was too much trouble. We look forward to another visit soon!

Gorgeous retreat for couples, children and dogs!

I just wanted to say my husband and I have just spent the most fantastic week in the log cabin in Milson - what a wonderful place - it all felt a bit Hansel and Gretel (without the witch) truly tranquil and as an escape from London you couldn't ask for more. So thank you for choosing it for your website and thank you to Victoria Orchard for all her work on the cabin and her wonderful foody recommendations for local eateries all of which were spot on.

Isla

A truly beautiful place with a lovely warm welcome. A real getaway from it all break boating, swimming, walking, bbqs and generally doing nothing. This place wants for nothing and shouldn't be kept a secret!!
