The
Experience
Karen looks after you very well – she’s such an expert on B&B she runs courses on how to do it. And how to do it beautifully: unwind in this fresh converted granary with old beams, high ceilings and a sun-filled dining/sitting room overlooking the hills. You sleep over in the barn: choose between two bedrooms – one up, one down – each with its own entrance. Find beautifully dressed beds, silent fridges, good lighting, homemade cakes. Bathrooms have deep baths (and showers) – from one you can lie back and gaze at the stars. Karen’s breakfasts promise Ludlow sausages, home-laid eggs, fine jams and homemade marmalade.

We have stayed at Hopton House many times and every visit has been super special. The warmest welcome, cosiest bedrooms, yummiest breakfasts, total attention to every detail - Karen is the best ever host. So close to the Welsh border, guests are spoilt for choice for walks, history and stunning scenery.

Fantastic second stay and just about to spend another three nights - this time with puppy dog. A truly wonderful relaxing place with great facilities and in a great location. I am increasingly fond of those blue remembered hills. Terrific

Karen runs a fantastic B & B, we were one of her first customers and have been back several times since. Hopton House is a charming warm and friendly place to stay from the homemade cake to the cuddly blankets everything is quite perfect. Happy hens lay your breakfast eggs which you eat while looking at the breath taking views. Breakfasts are amazing and you want for nothing, every time we return another little extra has been added to the rooms. Hopton House comes highly recommended by us on all levels try it and see.

Wonderful place - stunning scenery matched by the quality and care from Karen. Not so much a B&B as a boutique hotel in a rural setting

A wonderful place to stay - a very peaceful location, with superb rooms and food. Karen was incredibly thoughtful and accommodating so that it made it feel like the very best hotel. We often felt that we were the only ones there because of the peaceful feel of the place. The rooms have lots of little touches that make it a cut above all other B&Bs (and hotels) that I have stayed in, and the bathrooms are fantastic. We first came here on our honeymoon, and we had a great time - and have since returned on several occasions. We wouldn't hesitate to reccommend (and often have!).

We have been several times to stay at Hopton House, mainly because of the amazing hospitality and breakfasts rather than wanting to particularly visit the area, although that is worth visiting too! Can't wait for our next visit!

- Stretch your legs after your arrival with a stroll along quiet country lanes to visit Hopton Castle. You may well spot yellowhammers in the ancient hedgerows. Look up to see red kites, buzzards and ravens
- A 2 minute walk gets you to a request stop on the wonderful Heart of Wales line. Take the single carriage train up to Shrewsbury or down into Wales
- The wonderful Jolly Frog restaurant, specialising in seafood, is just a 5 minute drive. In the Summer set up on the deck with a bottle of chilled white wine, lobster and fries and enjoy the wonderful views of the Shropshire Hills
- The most beautiful town in England ( according to John Betjeman ) is just a 20 minute drive from us. Explore the famous castle, walk along the river, visit the independent shops.
- Stokesay Castle is the finest and best preserved medieval manor house in England. Just a 10 minute drive from us. Make a day of it and take a circular walk in the hills from the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre in Craven Arms
- A bit further afield, we're 45 minutes from the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge, Or visit the Mappa Mundi at Hereford. Pop across the border and explore Wales

A fabulous country retreat, we had a lovely time relaxing. The room was beautifully appointed with everything you could wish for included. This certainly is a 5* Bed & Breakfast. In fact the breakfast are a real highlight, so much choice with specials and many options available. The view from the breakfast room with the free range hens and birds were a delight each morning. Being near Ludlow it's a great base to explore with good pubs & resturants a short drive away.
