You are a short step from a village with an excellent pub (return across fields with a torch). Or treat yourself to dinner at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons. Katrina’s delicious thatched cottage sits down a quiet lane. Through your own entrance find a guest dining room with armchairs by the old range, interesting prints and paintings, an eclectic mix of antiques and contemporary furniture. Bedrooms are warm, comfortable and stylish with views over the garden; shower rooms (not huge) are brand new and deeply smart. Breakfast, unhurried and bristling with local produce, sets walkers up for the Chiltern Way and the Ridgeway.

Delightful and peaceful cottage. We slept better than we had done for weeks. The room was very comfortable, with views across the garden and fields beyond, and it had the advantage of a modern powerful shower. Breakfast the following morning was delicious, eggs and bacon, hot toast and marmalade, and piping hot coffee to help us clear the sleepy dust from our eyes and start the day. An added bonus is the owner has three lovely friendly labradors.

A delight, down a quiet lane, away from everything (including mobile phone reception). Inside tons of character and hardly anything exactly square or level - as we like. Katrina welcomed us warmly and quickly organized a taxi when we needed one. The bedroom windows peep out under the thatch, but there’s plenty of room to stretch out, a comfortable bed, good heating and shower, and interesting books. A great spot to stay for Oxford by car or dining at Raymond Blanc’s. A sociable and tasty breakfast around the big table included Katrina’s famous sausages. We enjoyed 2 nights and will return.

we stayed 2 nights and enjoyed very much our short stay. Katrina made us feel comfortable and surprised us with a delicious breakfast. Very quiet location, perfect for people who love the countryside and it is close to Oxford.

a very nice and relax place. the rooms are immaculate and the breakfast was great. I wished we could stay longer to enjoy the area and the Cottage. the host is very friendly and the space is lovely with great garden to walk around. I recommend the place 100%. it is worth the search and it is near Oxford.

Stayed overnight with my husband on our way back to Ireland from a visit to my brother in Kent. It is a magical place, so peaceful and comfortable - just as I had imagined an English Country Cottage! We sat in the beautiful garden in the evening sipping wine watching a squirrel play hide and seek! Dinner in The Mole (recommended by Katrina) was delicious and breakfast the next morning was equally so. Would highly recommend this place :)
