The
Experience

Jacobean Shipton Court has been carefully preserved by the Arathoon family – flats created, outbuildings restored, gardens kept. You stay in Martin and Pauls’s Summerhouse – splendid with antiques and china galore. Bedrooms (one ground floor) have well-dressed beds and immaculate shower rooms; step through a ‘Narnia’ door (cleverly reclaimed old linen press) into the huge second double. Martin rustles up a generous breakfast and the view from your table is a treat: a 300-foot pond with ducks darting between the lilies. Blenheim and Oxford both an easy drive; drinks by the fire in the richly furnished drawing room on your return.

Reviews

We found this little gem on Sawdays website & its like a very well kept secret! Absolutely gorgeous setting with a super room with every possible luxury provided and a wonderful host making us so welcome. We had a superb breakfast with all our favorite foods sitting in the window overlooking the pond & stunning garden. It was like something out of a film. I cannot think of any 5* hotel that would have been more luxurious is or more personal with such amazing food and service. We will definitely go back

This was our second visit, we returned because we were so impressed first time round. The rooms are beautiful and thoughtfully appointed. The breakfast is delicious and plentiful and nothing seems too much trouble. You are made to feel so welcome as soon as you arrive. Helpful and friendly without being intrusive. We have made this our special place where we retreat every few months to escape reality and allow ourselves to be looked after. What more can I say, its perfect.

A wonderful stay, with a hugely welcoming and accommodating host. I couldn’t recommend this enough as a place to stay. Delicious breakfast, gorgeous house, and the perfect place to lay one’s head for the night. Our baby daughter also loved feeding the ducks on the amazing pond! Many thanks to Martin for a truly memerable stay.

Great service, lovely rooms and gardens. Would stay again for sure!

What a find. We had the most wonderful afternoon and evening relaxing in this delightful place. The house is situated in stunning gardens and is beautifully peaceful. The view from the window made up for the rain. Martin was a delightful host, nothing was too much trouble. We were greeted warmly and made to feel at home with offers of tea, coffee, beer or wine. The attention to detail was first class, from breakfast to a night cap before bed, fluffy towels, monogrammed serviettes, china cups, log burner. Ted, our dog had his own treats and doggy bed too. An utterly divine stay. Thank you
