Chaffinch Cottage, Kidlandlee

Just perfect

All I need to say is that we rebooked the same day we returned home! We have never done that before! It’s the most wonderful place if you want to recharge. The cottage is absolutely delightful. Beautifully furnished with so many extra treats. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay perfect. The track up to the cottages does seem a little daunting the first time you drive up it but the location and view once you reach your destination is breathtaking. It certainly is worth it!

A relaxing time in the very comfortable and well equipped Chaffinch Cottage. It is the most stunning location with far reaching views and fabulous walks all around.

A truly remote and wonderfully peaceful location, great for anyone who enjoys outdoor activities. There are some good, long walks from the door and even better mountain biking and trail running options. The cottage is warm and comfortable, very well-equipped, and has fantastic views across the hills. There is also a lot to do in the area in all seasons. We would definitely book again.

Kidlandlee (and the team that run it) is remarkable: walks aplenty, breathtaking views, welcoming fires on chilly days and heartfelt hospitality all combine to showcase a perfect combination. Terri and Matthew's previous renovation and theatrical experience have resulted in a stay that makes the most of the jaw-dropping scenery. The sheer remoteness of the location means that off-grid is a big part of their provision, but this is off-grid meets luxury and it in no way interferes with your stay. We were inspired to start researching off-grid solutions for ourselves.

Wonderful place, set in the most beautiful scenery. No corners are cut in the cottage, and they've spent money on all the areas where higher quality makes a difference to comfort or environmental footprint. The location is quite isolated, and getting up the last couple of miles out of season may be tricky. However, there is lovely walking straight out of the door, and it's a good base to explore other areas of Northumberland (the beaches are an hour away, Hadrian's wall a few minute further). The owners are also very responsive to queries. All in all, one of the best holidays we've had

This was our first visit to Kidlandlee, what an amazing, stunning location with a beautiful cottage upon arrival. The accommodation was so well appointed and thoughtfully laid out/furnished, it truly feels like you are staying in a much loved home. Terri, Matthew, their family and Oscar & Indie are all lovely, nothing too much trouble - and always around if needed. Can't wait to visit again, a week wasn't long enough. A beautifully equipped and furnished cottage and a most stunning location - perfect for walking, cycling, exploring the beautiful Northumberland National Park or somewhere to chill and look at the views!
