Moat House is an adorable cottage, a good size for two and with its own garden, but it’s the setting that makes it so special. It overlooks the ancient moat of Hindringham Hall and you could watch the wildlife all day. Inside it is comfortable and spacious, with a kitchen and dining area at entry level, and a sitting room down the steps with French doors opening to the garden. There are cream walls and practical carpeting, two sofas, a desk for your laptop, and a small table with upright black leather chairs. Up the stairs is a bedroom under the eaves, carpeted and pristine, with a kingsize bed, white fitted wardrobes and spectacular views. Then a super-duper bathroom – more views – and a handsome dressing room. The friendly owners know all there is to know about North Norfolk: the safe sandy beaches, the world-class golf, the stately homes, the shops and restaurants of Blakeney, Holt and Wells-next-the-Sea. And all those gardens you can visit, starting with Hindringham Hall, free to guests on Wednesdays and Sunday afternoons in summer, and with a tennis court you may use.

  • Wet Days- try one of the 5 stately homes within a 30min drive, steam trains run from Holt to Sheringham and Walsingham to Wells. Thursford has a Steam Museum or Christmas Show. Fakenham has a cinema and bowling alley and Cromer has an End of the Pier Show
  • Bird watchers- Cley, Titchwell, Pensthorpe.. need I say more? Walkers- wonderful walks along the coast and try leaving your car and and returning via the Coast Hopper Bus. Tennis- on site, Winding down- money can't buy the peace you'll find at Moat House
  • So close to the sea yet can retreat to the peace of the countryside. ALL that Norfolk has to offer is within easy reach- be it a golf course, house to visit,music- events and fairs take place all summer and then there are the auctions and street markets...
