This is shopaholic heaven – Harrods at one end of the street, Harvey Nicks at the other. As for The Levin, it sits quietly on Basil Street, a peaceful retreat in the middle of Knightsbridge. Buffet breakfasts are served in the lobby; read a newspaper while you delve into freshly baked croissants, cheese, fruit, yogurt or nip next door to the Capital (their sister hotel) for a Full English. If you like seafood, book dinner here too; the kitchen is headed up by Nathan Outlaw. Bedrooms are spread over four floors with a lift to carry you up, though you may prefer to walk; a contemporary chandelier with an 18-metre drop fills the stairwell. As for the rooms, some are bigger, others smaller, but all have the same crisp style: bold colours, hand-stitched beds, marble bathrooms, books galore. Bigger rooms have sofas, all have white robes, crisp linen, Bose radios and flat-screen TVs. You get air conditioning and a handy smartphone, too. There’s a full concierge service and Hyde Park is close.
