The
Experience

The peaceful approach is along the passage between Hawksmoor church and its graveyard, away from Greenwich hubbub. At the end of the lane is a ‘cottage’ set about with greenery, lamp posts and benches; inside, bold art and antiques – and tea with flapjack awaiting you in an eccentrically furnished (stuffed cat on dentist chair, huge parasol) sitting room. Bedrooms are cosy and colourful, with double beds (not huge) that positively encourage intimacy. Breakfast – delicious – is in the basement, another engagingly furnished room awash with character. Robert, an actor, is easy, funny, chatty – and has created an unusual, attractive place.

Reviews

A little gem in the centre of Greenwich. Beautiful quirky interiors to match the beautiful quirky proprietor! Had a peaceful sleep in the very comfortable bed and room and an amazing breakfast that kept me going all day. I especially enjoyed the freshly ground coffee. If you are planning a trip to Greenwich or this side of London, there is no better home from home than Number 16.

Lara, Sheffield

We wanted a short break in Greenwich, especially to go to the Maritime Museum and No 16 could fit us in. Right in the centre of Greenwich yet unbelievably quiet. Next to the church of St Alfege, designed by Hawksmoor, you can get everywhere on foot. The house is full of interesting antiques and objets trouvées; quirky and eclectic but homely. Robert is every bit as interesting as his home; trained as an actor, spent some time in the world of antiques; a great host. Super comfy bed, petite but adequate shower room. We absolutely loved it and plan to return later in the year. Very special place!

John, Dorking

My partner took me to this delightful B&B for 3 nights in December 2012 for my birthday. We stayed in the blue room. It was a very comfortable beautiful room uniquely furnished with antiques. The bathroom was very small but this was understandable due to the limited space(this is, after all, an early Victorian building). The yellow room has a larger bathroom. Beautiful and quiet location close to the centre of Greenwich and Nick and Robert were the perfect hosts. Breakfast was cooked by them in their lovely basement kitchen. We received a warm welcome on arrival and we will definitely return
