The
Experience

Surrounded by meadows this 17th-century barn is in a quiet spot in a conservation village. Step in to a light-filled home with old beams and good antiques; a fireplace glows and heated floors keep toes warm. Above the high-raftered main living/dining room is a comfy, good-sized double; two adjoining rooms share a shower and are perfect for family or friends sharing; the single has an antique brass bed. Jane is helpful and friendly, there are endless extras and nothing is too much trouble; her delicious breakfasts and suppers are entirely local or home-grown. Views are to sheep-dotted fields and the village is on a 25-mile cycle trail.

Reviews

We were made to feel welcomed as old friends (although this was our first visit), had a comfortable room and the run of a sitting room and TV. Our every need was catered for and our breakfast all one could want. Highly recommended!

Carola, Aldeburgh

This was the most delightful place to spend a night. Completely charming host in Jane ( Wright), extremely comfortable room ( and bed), and bathroom. A sumptuous breakfast, with the feeling that absolutely nothing would be too much trouble ( but since everything was provided it wasn't necessary to ask). I have never left a review on any site before which perhaps shows how highly I did rate this delightful place.

Diane, London

From welcome to departure we were made welcome as family. This is a delightful place run by the lovely hospitable Jane with help from her highly talented daughter, Caroline.( who also has a fascinating day job). The bedrooms ,ensuite, are perhaps small , by some people’s standard but oh so comfortable. Nothing was too much trouble and conversation fascinating too. Our ancient dog was made happy and she loved the walk from the door! You will not be disappointed! You will be very happy with your choice.

Michael, Dorset

What a wonderful find. Thank you Jane for making us so very welcome. The Barn is beautiful. Quiet and very well kept. We just loved the atmosphere and the views. Would love to go back. Again thank you. :)

Dear Jane Your home is simply the most welcoming and lovely B&B that we have stayed in. We felt completely at home. It was also so kind of you to make supper for us. It was delicious and we enjoyed the company. The sat nav did a great job of giving us a delightful tour of the villages and country lanes south of Stamford on our homeward journey. With best wishes Jenny

Local points of interest from Jane Wright

  • Excellent range of places to eat, from village pub up the road, to gourmet dining in and around Stamford.
  • Historic Houses, such at Burghley, Grimsthorpe Castle, Belton House, and Doddington Hall. Lincoln and Peterborough cathedrals and numerous oustanding Churches. Guide books and maps on hand. For children there are excellent adventure playgrounds.
  • Local markets, farmers’ markets and Lincoln Christmas market. The Lincolnshire Wolds are even less well known than the Fens, as are the mostly empty roads.
  • Regular antique fairs and local antique centres.
  • Cycle trail from the village along empty lanes - borrow our bikes or hire some to explore Grimsthorpe Castle estate and Rutland Water.
  • Explore "hidden" Lincolnshire on foot with one of our walkers maps or a trip to the coast for bird watching on the marches.
