The
Experience

You’ll feel at home the moment you arrive at Yvette and Philip’s friendly cottage. Once a medieval ‘hall house’, it’s awash with huge oak beams. Up steep stairs and past shelves of books find fresh, sunny bedrooms with lovely views. Enjoy a flagstone terrace for summery breakfasts or a fireside spot in the dining room; expect eggs from the hens, homemade jams, kippers perhaps or a full English. You’re surrounded by glorious open countryside, walks and cycle rides start from the door and it’s just 25 minutes from the Channel Tunnel. Dip in the swimming pond, chat to Rocky the labrador… and wander the blooming gardens.

Reviews

What an incredibly delightful place. it is rare to find a place that combines wonderful hosts, with charming bedrooms and utterly delicious breakfasts. We didn't want to leave and would stay again in a heartbeat!

Nicia, Paris

We stayed 3 nights at Snoadhill Cottage, Bethersden. Yevette and Philip made us so welcome and comfortable in their lovely cottage. The breakfasts were delicious. We enjoyed their garden and the surrounding countryside. During our stay we visited Leeds Castle and Dover Castle. We could not have enjoyed our stay more.

Pat, Colchester

A Great escape. Peaceful location and very beautiful cottage with charming rooms. A real special place for us

Alessandra, Mogliano veneto

Wonderful hosts in a delightful oasis like rural setting - picture perfect English B&B - access and bathroom a little cramped for larger or elderly folk.

Kevin, Christchurch

Great place, super hosts.

Elise, Brussels

Martin, London

Lovely cosy cottage, warm welcome and great full English to send us on our way

Alan, Chester

This is a beautiful old house surrounded by lovely Kent countryside, so is a charming place to stay. Great location for night's stop before or after crossing the Channel too. We loved the cosy, cottagey bedroom, the modern showroom, having our own sitting room (with log fire & TV). We felt warmly welcomed by the hosts and just relaxed! Breakfast is delicious and you get a chance to sit and admire the pond and surrounding countryside. Would definitely recommend a stay!

The neighbourhood

Local points of interest from Yvette James

  • We are situated in a genuinely rural location with little passing traffic. The nearest house is at least 150 metres away and we have delightful pastoral views across fields to the forest.. The local pub is a 30 minute walk through the woods.
  • We are in the heart of "The Garden of England" and local attractions include:Sissinghurst Castle, Great Dixter, Bodiam Castle,Bedgebury Pinetum,Leeds Castle,Canterbury Cathedral and city,Dover Castle, Romney/Hythe railway,Tenterden,Tunbridge Wells and Rye.
  • Visit London for the day either by fast train (38 mins) from Ashford (15 mins drive) or Pluckley (5 mins drive) with two trains an hour taking 70 mins. We know London well and can help with suggestions how to get the most out of your day.
  • Alternatively spend a day touring the beautiful small villages such as Smarden with its picture book cottages. Travel to the coast and visit the new Turner gallery in Margate. and the more traditional towns of Deal, Ramsgate, Walmer and Whitstable
  • Ashford is home is the Designer Outlet Centre which is one of the most popular shopping centres in the south east offering all the most well known shops under one roof with superb prices.
  • After a day out, come home to tea and scones, mouch around the garden, play croquet or tennis, swim in the pond(!) and we will point you in the right direction for dinner in one of the many local pubs or restaurants nearby. Return for coffee, bed or a DVD.
